yes and no. the biggest thing regarding big sean's popularity is while many people on this site thing hes average or wack, detroitboi has nonstop coverage of big sean on this site and people focus more on big sean since he trolls and capes for him. When in real life you have some big sean fans but the majority of rap fans don't think too much of him besides hes aiight.

so while detroit boi is talking about seans fanbase this and the critics say that even other hip hop boards are't talking as much about big sean. but even in all the big sean threads nobody is really saying that big sean is that popular outside day day and 1 or 2 other posters.

long story short yes the reason spends more time debating big sean due to day days absolute biased opinion of big sean and his enticing posts about other rappers to get debates going. but at the same time its no because while people debate joke and talk about liquor in this thread nobody had high expectations for big sean except the thread starter.

I think in this case...He had buzz with "Mercy" and a couple other guest spots...So he saw Detroit as a big opportunity to set himself up, I guess thinkin that he could top it with an album right after...However, he ain't een really capitalize on Detroit and then took this long to drop a subpar album...I think if this had come out couple months after Detroit and he at least did a video for "Woke Up" or the intro he woulda seen better sales and a better response...I also think Kanye is being a terrible CEO right now...This lost ass nigga was basically outchea bein a lost ass nigga for a whole year...He had aspiration, he had some good music, he just ain't do shit with it...Like, Sean got enough money to pay for a buzz...I'm sure he records enough music and does enough interesting shit to keep people talking about him...But no, he faded into the darkness and came back out with fuckin "Beware"...Nigga, no.

big sean was the one who decided to push his album back it had nothing to do with kanye. the album had a release date and was good to go and big sean pushed it back. Some of the better songs like ashley and all figured out were already finished back last year when sean pushed his album back.

Kanye ain't any different than ross or jay when it comes to their rappers not caplitilizing off buzz at times i.e. meek and first album for j cole. At the end of the day sean had so much buzz off cruel summer that he could have dropped an album based purely off detriot. Remember detroit was out downloading lil wayes mixtape and wayne had a bigger blind suburban following. This failure is all based on sean kanye had nothing to do with it. Without the platform of features like mercy and clique kanye provided sean wouldn't even have a chance to recover from finally famous flop. While ass and my last were huge singles nobody took sean seriously till the cruel summer and other featues last year.

I think like most people I'm confused as to how the same nigga that put out Detroit also put together this same HOF album...

After listening to HOF, I have to agree. I'm actually at work listening to Detroit right now, and I'm dumbfounded by how these nigguhs keep releasing mixtapes that are better than their albums.

There's more restrictions on what can be released on a major than by yourself. It's not that complicated to understand.
