great interview that i didn't want to end. But then again I came up on Kane and pretty much knew how he'd respond to some of those questions because we from the same school of hip-hop. He's in my top 5 and he influenced my flow. It's too bad today's yougins don't really know too much about Kane. just for the record, my top 5...

KRS

Cube

Pac

Red

Kane

KRS is the solid #1 but i flip flop #2 and #3 and flip flop #4 and #5 somethimes. But those are the 5 I consider GOAT for different reasons

I understand how you feel, bro. I wish it could go on as well. Good to see you on hear again.

Kane came from era today's audiences simply don't understand. He did great job in interview explaining all technical aspects of MCing. It's one of the most knowledgeable and interesting interviews with rapper I've ever read.

So true, I totally agree, great interview. Kane is the greatest ever to pick up a mic, no equal.

I know how you feel. I have a few good sites that I go for music on, but this where I've steadily been. I've made recents updates to the Essence too.

Yes, Sir!!!!

I remember reading an interview on allhiphop with Keith Murray in 2006 and he talked about when he was younger and met Kane. Murray said that he thought that had he put his best battle rhyme against Kane on the spot, but he still couldn't top Kane on that day.

"I rip many places on regular basis, and broken down mics were the only traces

that I'd been there and there at the party.

The mic had my prints, and on it was a body.

So take caution. I'm not horsin' around in a throwdown, clown,

I'm takin' yours son.

So just acknowledge the way that I kick it,

cuz if rap was a house, you'd be evicted.

And dismissed from the microphone, chokin' on a bone, cuz Daddy's home.

And battlin' me is hazardous to health,

so put a quarter in your ass, cuz ya played yourself

Like a game in the arcade..."

True, though I think it's probably particularly annoying for BDK when people buy into the whole "writing in my head" thing when it's to do with Jay-Z, because Jay-Z used to be Kane's hype man

And Kane can rap circles around Jay-Z

you must not of heard about that night when Jay-Z destroyed BDK in concert

Here comes the conquering brother that fathoms and never ceases.
Violators pick up the pieces (uh)
That are left behind as you're left to find
The fury of the five fingers of death are mine,
Rippin' on the microphone, receitin' poem,
Givin' competition a Big Daddy syndrome.
Some step up, (mmm) none kept up (mmm).
They rap a brief moment and then shut up.

Pure heat right there

Sounds like a fictional bedtime story young Jay z fans get told by their parents to help them sleep at night. If it's true then it was obviously set up to catapult jays career.

Kane is one of the greatest to do it. No one could ever fuck with the king of punchlines in terms of MCing to me. He just got the quotables and wit to make them stand out. To be a great MC you got to study "Ain't No Half Steppin", "Set it Off", "Warm it Up Kane", "Raw" and all them classics.

Word

Was this concert meant to have happened when Jay-Z was still the hype man for Big Daddy Kane?

If so, there is no chance Jay "destroyed" BDK in concert because at the time Jay was still rhyming like a sloppy version of Jaz-O -

Or like a Das EFX copy-cat -

And when he changed to the Reasonable Doubt style, well you can't destroy anyone with that style, it only really works well on record because it's slower and more conversational.
