Stone cold started off in wcw. He was going by the name of stunning Steve Austin. He was a bad guy then. And he was a pure technical wrestler.

When he came to the wwe it was through Ted dibiase. Then he was calling himself the ringmaster. And he was still doing technical wrestling.

That shit didn't work. Then when he turned into a Budweiser swilling redneck his popularity took off.

Shawn Micheals was an instant star. His days with the rockers showed that. Then when he went rogue people loved him more.

Overall HBK was better hands down. From persona to wrestling technique.

These are my favorite two wrestlers by far, but I gotta give it to HBK. They both were total packages, but Shawn was the greatest in ring talent of all time. Nobody could do what he did nor do it as consistently. If Austin hadnt broken his neck before the peak of his run, it might've been a different story. He still had some legendary matches after, but it wasnt the same. You could make a list of the top 100 matches of all time and Shawn could easily take up half the list.

In ring talent is only one part of "overall", but you like what you like.

In ring talent is a major part and thats not all he had. As a baby face, he was average, but Shawn is one of the greatest heels of all time. In particular, during his DX run, he sonned the shit out of people on the mic and had the charisma to back it up. His charisma showed in the ring too. Shawn selling getting his ass kicked by Taker in HIAC was second to none. Only Flair could do it as good or better.

Stone Cold was just as good if not better heel and clearly twice the face HBK was. Stone Cold low key had classic matches with Taker also, but where HBK clearly had the edge was longevity, so he could have countless classics via ring psychology way past his prime.

Marty Janetty imo was always better than Shawn in the ring, but outside of it when it came to the total package, HBZ owned Janetty in every category, and HBK just did way more as a singles wrestler from 92 on that's undeniable resume wise and got way more big stage opportunities that just shitted on Janettys career. Still remember that great match he had vs Angle on Smackdown tho.

You aint watched his heel shit. I remember he came to the ring for a heel promo, then looked at the crowd, and walked out the ring and back up the ramp, and had the whole arena booing him without saying a word.

If HBK didn't lose to Austin at that wrestlemania he couldn't have carried the WWF in the Monday night wars. As great as he was (and DX) we all know they were second rate to SC and the Rock's success
