"For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind." Isaiah 65:17

There will be no tears in eternity for the righteous. If the righteous remembered the wicked, there would still be tears. Thats why God will create a new world after the last day. The wicked will take their lot in the lake of fire and be cut off from everything that is good. While the righteous will rejoice with the king and redeemer of our souls forever and ever, never to remember the old order of creation. HALLELUJAH TO THE KING!

Seems like a lie to me, living a lie and forgetting about the past. There will be no point of knowing good and evil. What is righteousness? What is true and what is love? You won't know, because your memory has been wiped.

Especially since that verse has traditionally been understood to mean that you will forget the pain and suffering of your former life.

Jesus Christ, the living and true God, came to this earth to redeem a fallen creation. He was in this world, and the world was made by Him, but the world did not recognize Him. "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not." (Isaiah 53:3)

He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. The creator of the universe and everything in it came to be afflicted and carry our burdens. Can you even imagine that? The Creator came to save the created! "Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted." (Isaiah 53:4)

The chastisment for our peace fell upon Him! The creator, who fashioned us out of dirt, came to heal our wounds and give us peace with Him. It's inconceivable how deep, vast, wide, and broad the grace, mercy, and love of God truly is. "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)

Yeah that's right! By HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED! Shout for joy IC, shout for joy all ye people, shout for joy all ye lands, shout for joy all ye His hosts! Hallelujah to the king of kings and Lord of Lords! Sing unto Him a new song for great and marvelous are your works and deeds Lord of Hosts! Without Jesus Christ paying the penalty for our sin, we would all still be dead men. We have all gone astray! But the Lord, by His grace, laid upon Him the iniquity of us all! Glory to the father in the highest! He is high and lifted up. Lifted up above all things. High and lofty is He. He dwells in unapproachable light for He is holy! I implore you IC, have you beheld the lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world? Have you handeld Him? Have you communed with Him? Have you dined with Him? If not, come and see what great things the Lord hath done for thee! Amen.

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." Revelation 3:20

How can the living and true 'god' die for one's sin? Isn't 'god' supposedly be immortal?

Actually, according to a recent thread, if God starts out with 6.9 billion sheep, 6 billion of them are going to hell.

Which is more than likely true.

As we see in the bible, God is a very hard dude to get on the right page with. There is so many religions and fucked up things that are followed it's ridiculous. The bible isn't followed like it's supposed to, ask anyone about the Sabbath and they say well, I'm busy, I go to church on Sunday anyways! So there's the one that's mostly not followed, sad too. People think because sins are covered it's okay, they'll go to heaven. God has their backs right? Go ahead, don't follow or fuck up, you have your get out of jail free card.

LOL

Come on, get real. If the shit is real and God is the way he is in the bible, guess what? Most of the Christian population isn't getting a foot onto the welcome mat.

Sad but hell, that's the real deal. Even DoU made a thread a few months back saying he just realized how hard it is to get into heaven. Shit's no trip. It's a hell of a ride. (lol no pun intended)

This I hope is in anyway to cheapen the question for I feel it is important. But I do say this...what position are we in to dispute how God "saves" (especially if He exists)? I like to think the reason why we question this is we think we have God figured out already; we think we know what God is suppose to do and if He doesn't comply with our understanding, then we put ourselves in a position where God is no longer the authority...we are and God has some explaining to do. God doesn't need to explain anything beyond what we need to know. The unknowns are accepted in faith that one day it will be made known.

But according to Christian teaching, all someone has to do is believe in Jesus and they will be saved. So all of the Christians even if they happen to be complete hypocritical assholes will go to heaven.

Meanwhile, cats like Gandhi will be eternally tormented. Eternally, as in, forever.

"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." Isaiah 64:6

God sees differently than man. So while you may esteem Ghandi to be somebody, God sees him as nothing but an unrepentant sinner. You are dead without Christ. Any righteous deeds you have done as a man on this earth is fithly rags in the sight of a holy, just, and perfect God. You sin once and you are worthy of eternal punishment. God is perfect. Imperfection is unacceptable in His sight. That's why Jesus Christs perfection is our only hope. God must see the redeemed sinner through the blood of Jesus Christ in order to be accepted into His kingdom. Thats why no man will see the Father, unless they accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. You can argue, debate, scoff, and mock till the cows come home; but the truth is the truth. And it will prevail wether you like it or not. God bless

Well, good luck with that belief.

I think ninety per cent of humanity doesn't deserve an eternity of torment.

We all deserve hell my friend. We are sinners. I am a low down rotten scoundrel, I am the chief of sinners, totally vile, totally corrupt, totally evil, totally wicked. I am the scourge of the earth. I deserve everlasting flames. I have lived a life of sin my brother. I have done stuff that I am even ashamed to admit. But God knows. God knows everything. We are all naked before Him. There is nothing hiddent that shall not be known, nothing done in secret that shall not be proclaimed upon housetops. What is done in the dark, will be brought to light. So realizing this fact, I decided with my own free will to seek out a solution to my problem of sin. And that solution is the Savior, Jesus Christ. He gave His life for me, so that I could live. The just for the unjust. He gave His righteous life for my unrighteous life. And not only mine, but the whole worlds. He is my only hope. He is my only way of escape from the punishment I truly deserve. Glory to God that He loved me first!

LOL @ you saying I forgot my moral values on the internet. You internet people take everything too serious. If this is what upsets you on the internet, I can imagine how real life effects you. I would hate to see how you react if somebody cuts you off on the freeway. Good grief.

Yeah, I've heard this Calvinist stuff before. We're all worms and terrible and disgusting and all that jazz. I agree that humanity is capable of terrible things. I've done things I'm ashamed of, but I've also done things that I'm proud of and there are things that humanity have done that are simply amazing.

Now, the standard answer here is that anything good we do is because of God. Really? Everything bad we do is our fault but anything good we do God takes credit for?

If all humans deserve hell, and the only mistake that the ninety per cent of the people who are supposed to end up there that the other ten per cent didn't make, is that they didn't believe something that they found unbelievable, then how does an infinite punishment even make sense?

1. Yes, all the good that humanity does comes from God, because He alone is the only 1 who is good.

2. Yes, everything that we do that is contrary to God is our own fault. We are free moral agents who have the ability to choose to do right or choose to do wrong.

3. No, believing in God is not unbelievable. People don't believe in God because the refuse to believe in Him by suppressing the truth of God by their unrighteous deeds, acts, and thoughts. Sin blinds the minds of those who choose not to believe.

4. An infinite punishment is the only just sentence that a Holy God can admnister. Why? Because God made humans to live forever when He breathed the breath of life into us. Our souls are immortal because they come from the immortal, God Himself. Our immortal souls must live somewhere and those who refuse to acknowledge God for who He is will spend all eternity in the lake of fire.

5.You keep dishing out this 90/10% ratio of the lost and saved. Well I have 1 question, what is stopping you from being included in the 10% right now? You have free will to change your eternal desttiny. Why not do it this very instant?

Maybe there is more to our "wretchedness" than just a lack of moral performance. Yes, you may have done great things, served your fellow man in all kindness, but are you somehow cleansed by them? God sees man as sinners no matter what good or bad you do. It's kind of like the way society treats criminals. No matter what they do that may be good; maybe save someone's life, that person will always remain that criminal.

So, he created the good in us, shouldn't we get some credit when we embrace that goodness?

What about ignorance of these laws of God?

Suppression? I'm not convinced that's the case. Many people are raised outside the Christian faith.

Because we're immortal we deserve endless punishment?

Maybe I'm not convinced that a just God would let 90 per cent be tortured for infinity.

Yes, but I'm not convinced that an eternity of torture is what our "wretchedness" deserves. C'mon, infinity never ends but sins and the repercussions of them have a beginning and an end.
