Bamboozled is the most slept On movie in Hip Hop

There was an old interview Spike gave about this film and he said he wanted to show how all of the characters eventually played a part in "Mantan and Sleep N Eat" getting their show and it being successful. From the Mau Maus auditioning and getting rejected; to De La Croix wanting the show to fail initially so he could get fired (until the money started rolling in). Jada's character was like everyone else who helped at the show's infancy (whether they did it knowingly or unknowingly).

The funniest thing about this movie is that damn near everything Spike portrayed eventually came true (and how Damon went on to star in that god awful film "Marci X").

yeah i still cop movies. i dont feel like sitting online all the time, so i keep for the collection in case wifey wanna watch sometimes. dont see an issue with that, especially for a movie like this

i have a laptop hooked to my bedroom tv with about 100+ of my favorite movies on it...

Thats cool......

But I think they showed Bamboozled on TVone two months ago for those who were asking. Doubt you'll see it again though

It's one of a kind type of film. The theme like this was never touched before and I wish more black directors expolred topics like this in their films. Sure, it wasn't as executed and stylish as earlier Lee classics and Wayans's overacting reached level of ridiculousness, but as a satire and social commentary it worked perfectly and it's a shame it' such a forgotten movie.

I finally saw the whole movie when it came on TVone. I thought it was good, but it was rushed. Black entertainers who's trying make it big should see this, and "Hollywood Shuffle."

i watched it again with my wife last night and she pointed something out that i had missed all these yeas...from the first gift that jada gave damon the "jolly nigg3r bank" by the end of the film he was surrounded by those things from tha era...it was creepy as hell....

I was like 14 when this came out so it definitely flew past my radar, s/o to tha thread starter and whomever posted the video. That shyt was enlightening to say tha least.

This movie is classic! I don't know what kind of politics Spike Lee faces when he makes a movie, but after watching this again the other night, I definitely need to see another classic JOINT from Lee. The man knows how to pull your heart strings and get you emotionally invested into the character's struggles... A top 3 flick from Spike!

Great Movie. But the specific to Hip Hop would be Wild Style, Style wars, and even 18 Blocks from tiffany's. Hell, I don't think most cats knowadays have even peeped beat street.

They was kicking our black asses.... I mean, they was kicking our black asses from cant see in the morning to the cant see at night.... but this is the NEW millenium...- Said by HoneyCutt while wearing blackface and dressed up as Abe Lincoln(one of my favorite moments of the movie for the obvious irony)

This movie is something... powerful, but what I will say is, did anyone notice the hypocrisy of Jada in the movie that no one really touched on? I think it was a subliminal thing that Spike put out there, but that was something that's rarely talked about

What part u talking about?

Jada's character in the movie is seen as the voice of reason to an extent right? But look at her actions. She fucked Damon Wayans, was fucking Manray, and LIED in the beginning about fucking Damon Wayans... and wanted to put the blame all on De La Qua for the disrespect of black folks and the culture, but the whole movie, she was still an accessory to the whole thing. She might've stood up to De La Qua at the end and shot him, but she still played a huge role in all of the whole shit. Yet at the end she kept saying to him "look at what you did, look at what you contributed to", when it actuality, she was just as much a part of it as De La Qua. Maybe Im looking too deep into it, but Jada had a lot of character flaws they never shined too much light on.

You gotta remember though. The show was supposed to be a parody and he wanted to get fired or show how racist hollywood was but it hit and he ran w/ it.She was against the show when it blew up mostly and was telling dude about it but, he didn't listen.

I think Jada was Spike's view on some black women in the business world or just women period who are kind of cheerleaders or groupies for successful men and maybe because women are discriminated against may have sex for power but actually be qualified, but that's the game

I know that much about the parody part, but even outside of the show though, Jada was just full of contradictions which was the point I believe.... I dont know everytime I watch this movie, I always think about how Jada's role was there but was subtle in execution. All around, this movie has so many elements to it man that even 12 years later cats are still loving it man. dope.

They talked about Jada's role in the Lights Camera Action forum. Somebody pointed out that Jada's role was purposely done like that. Her role was the so called "black militant" that bitched and complained about the problem but never did anything about it(a lot of niggaz in real life do that on a regular basis).

Basically Spike Lee wanted a character that knew there was a problem, talked about the problem, but didn't actually do a dam thing about it except stand by and continue to let it happen while letting her own greed to "come up" contribute to the problem.

In other words, Jada's role was the same as half of the niggaz on the IC bitching about how bad hip hop is right now but don't anything to help it get better but bitch about it on the internet and bootleg their favorite rapper's album.

Oh yeah. I figured that was the arch like I mentioned before, but my issue was that people who saw the movie rarely ever talk about that for some reason. I had convos with cats about this, and people just be like "Jada kept that shit real the whole movie" and Im like... "what?" but I get you

And you're right. Everybody on the IC, Twitter, Hip Hop fans in general always complaining about hip hop and its state, but bootleg their fav. rappers albums, and then SLEEP on the new shit. Niggas grativate to this weak shit, but still complain like "where the dope niggas" or hold on to cats that's BEEN around for years. I could go on, but in the sake of getting some promo up.....

Cop D.O.A. here. Instant Hip Hop Classic. No bullshit at all.
