I think it was a subliminal thing that Spike put out there, but that was something that's rarely talked about
What part u talking about?
Jada's character in the movie is seen as the voice of reason to an extent right? But look at her actions. She fucked Damon Wayans, was fucking Manray, and LIED in the beginning about fucking Damon Wayans... and wanted to put the blame all on De La Qua for the disrespect of black folks and the culture, but the whole movie, she was still an accessory to the whole thing. She might've stood up to De La Qua at the end and shot him, but she still played a huge role in all of the whole shit. Yet at the end she kept saying to him "look at what you did, look at what you contributed to", when it actuality, she was just as much a part of it as De La Qua. Maybe Im looking too deep into it, but Jada had a lot of character flaws they never shined too much light on.
You gotta remember though. The show was supposed to be a parody and he wanted to get fired or show how racist hollywood was but it hit and he ran w/ it.She was against the show when it blew up mostly and was telling dude about it but, he didn't listen.
I think Jada was Spike's view on some black women in the business world or just women period who are kind of cheerleaders or groupies for successful men and maybe because women are discriminated against may have sex for power but actually be qualified, but that's the game
I know that much about the parody part, but even outside of the show though, Jada was just full of contradictions which was the point I believe.... I dont know everytime I watch this movie, I always think about how Jada's role was there but was subtle in execution. All around, this movie has so many elements to it man that even 12 years later cats are still loving it man. dope.
They talked about Jada's role in the Lights Camera Action forum. Somebody pointed out that Jada's role was purposely done like that. Her role was the so called "black militant" that bitched and complained about the problem but never did anything about it(a lot of niggaz in real life do that on a regular basis).
Basically Spike Lee wanted a character that knew there was a problem, talked about the problem, but didn't actually do a dam thing about it except stand by and continue to let it happen while letting her own greed to "come up" contribute to the problem.
In other words, Jada's role was the same as half of the niggaz on the IC bitching about how bad hip hop is right now but don't anything to help it get better but bitch about it on the internet and bootleg their favorite rapper's album.
