Don't usually agree with Stephan A. Smith on much, but he's spot on with this.

What about republican administrations we've had in the past ?

The premise of being able to flex our voting power is cool but that has little to do with dealing with the immediate situation (Trump V Hillary). It's bad (so-called) vs worse, so you're going to let "worse" win to show that you have power ? They call that "cutting off your nose to spite your face".

And to assume that no candidate can be better for Black people, even if you're not fond of either candidate, is a position I haven't seen successfully supported yet.

Side note on the video, Steven A Smith contradicts some of his previous cooning with this particular video - specifically the part where he defends Black people looking out for Black interests.

Bottom line, I don't see it as Black people have blind loyalty to democrats. It's just that republicans haven't legitimately reached out to the Black vote. They don't represent Black interests. SO even if the dems only pretend to, then which one do you think Black people would vote for ?

I've yet to see any viable alternatives as to what exactly not voting will accomplish...and anyone who thinks a Trump presidency wouldn't do far more harm than Hilary is very misinformed. I've yet to see anyone say Hilary is perfect and her flaws are very well known but to pretend as if it will make no difference between her running the country vs Trump is where you expose your own ignorance

What sense does it make to keep going for the status quo?

In any other instance I'm all for challenging the status quo...but when the alternative is 4 years under Trump many find that risk not with taking

Again, your entire argument in favor of hillary has nothing to do with her or her policies

You've been programmed to think trump whenever someone mentions hillary's past

You are literally brainwashed

You took that one post as my entire argument? That's not very smart of you to do. I haven't laid out any argument actually. Just stated for many sacfricing 4 years under Trump ain't worth it...and people automatically default to Trump because if Hilary doesn't win he will and you're foolish to think otherwise. You're living in a fantasy world if you think Hilary losing means Jill Stein is going to win this late in the game

I've asked you across 4 threads now why you blindly support hillary and you haven't answered a single time

So yes, you have been brainwashed into believing trump is the bigger boogeyman when he is not

Again, you've seen many different historical facts concerning hillary's behavior and you ignored it all because again, you have been programmed into a hillary extremist

He's explicitly said people arent blindly supporting her. In clear terms. They just see her as the better option considering there are 2 choices. Lets be real thats the reality of the situation. Of the 2 choices there are people who, for good reason, believe she will be better. Its as simple as that. You dont have to agree with someone on everything to think they are better for the job. Anyway im out for the time being...

And I'm asking what these "good reasons" are, because they don't hold up to everything else that is known about her

voting 3rd party ain't happening this election..

Trump and Hillary have woken up a lot of ppl but at this point it's a bit late to worry about electing a third party candidate for president..

hopefully next election things are different, I know they will be for me and I will make sure anyone I interact w hears it out...

ppl don't want to believe that politicians are that corrupt or evil, that they aren't serving their best interests... it's hard for ppl to accept this and understandably so...

this is why I keep saying we need more candidates to expose this shit...

Trump could do it but he doesn't have the professionalism or etiquette to do it properly...

it's going to be hard to convince the public, tho... a lot of them shoulder shrug

So because I haven't answered you I'm brainwashed? Maybe I just...haven't answered you...I don't blindly support Hilary. I've explicitly said in other threads she hasn't done much at all to convince me to vote for her as opposed to simply voting against Trump. I'm not sold on her as some savior but do I think she'd be as Trump a man with no political experience at all and who can barely give a coherent response to any question without "I'm gonna beat Isis".nope...and again if you don't think Trump is worse for this county both internally and on an international scale you're just ignorant. Literally read an article just this morning in Washington Post where other countries, both allies and enemies, are saying America should be embarrassed Trump has even made it this far and just how bad him being president would affect relationship on a global scale...but yeah Hilary would be just as bad...if you want Trump just say it. But be honest about it because the only people I've seen say Hilary is as bad or worse than Trump are Trump supporters

Write someone in imo

They probably won't win but it's about the statement that you know the 2 major candidates are trash

So who am i supposed to vote for?

Nobody can tell you who to vote for. But if you want things to change how does doing the same shit over and over again lead to that change? Doing the same shit over and over never holds either party accountable for their bullshit. So why would they change their bullshit if they know they will never have to pay a price for it?

I suggest an alternative (better) way to flex the power of the Black vote than to sit back and let whoever get elected.

I'm disagreeing with you saying that simply saying Hilary is the better option means you're blindly supporting her which you can't seem to get past. You will never 100% agree with everything a politician says or does. That just ain't gonna happen. What you will get though is the option to decide which choice is best not only for your immediate future but long term future as well...as for actual reasons Clinton would make a better president than Trump I'll give you one simple one...Clinton actually knows how to run a political office as proven with her experience. Whether I agree with her political history or not she's proven she can do the job. Trump is of the mindset he can simply bully people into what he wants. That won't work as President. Now can you explain just how a Trump presidency wouldn't be so bad as you seem to be alluding to?

You have all the facts in order to make an INFORMED decision. Yet fear, emotion, and irrational assumptions about "doomsday scenarios", IN YOUR MIND about the other candidate make you, and the vast majority of black people to swallow the blue pill.

Throw in some fear, mixed with low-brow pandering ads (Barbershop video) go speak in a black church in the black community. That's the template to herd the black vote like cattle.

Switch up your cadence so your inflection in tone has a tinge of Ebonics in it. Propose shit that you know want get passed (20 billion dollars for HBCU'S) as low-hanging fruit niggas can latch on too.

There's no way I could, in good conscious, vote for a person that did HALF the shit you posted. I wouldn't be able to look my Haitian brothers in the eye. A vote for her is a ringing endorsement of EVERYTHING she's done in her 30 years of public service.

Are you okay with that?

I can see past the thinly-veiled argument of "I'm voting for Hillary, to stop Trump." By that logic, I'm advocating for more cops in inner-city communities to stop black on black crime. Who gives a rat's ass if it leads to MORE pigs killing unarmed black men.

I'm choosing between the lesser of "two evils." More cops=more police shootings, less cops=more black on black crime........

Pick your poison. Isn't that the justification you guys use?

My questions is.......Why even attempt to drink the poison. Common sense says when you have two bad choices, you don't pick any.

Don't vote.

#SitThisOneOut

I didn't even vote for Obama even though I wanted him to win... reasons being 1. I was too lazy and 2. I'm in Cali he was gon win that shit here anyway here.

So realistically after a 10 hour work day I'm sure in the fuck not about to get in line to do it this year either

So granted I'm not the best spokesman for the "get out and vote" crowd.

But encouraging people to "sit this one out" is just as dumb in its own way. This election ain't coming to a halt just because you dont vote.

Yeah they both suck. But one of these crackas is gettin in, regardless.
One of these crackas is CLEARLY worse/dumber than the other.

So yeah if any of our people are so inclined to vote, then yeah I do prefer they go with the lesser evil.

Y'all gotta get over this notion that a president is gonna really single out black people for preferential treatment in a country that was built on white supremacy. It will never happen, but there is candidate who is most certainly more detrimental to us as a people than the other.

I ain't gon begrudge my people who want to get out and vote at least for the 3rd party candidate even tho we all know there's no chance there either

It's like a lot of you are 60% of the way through a complete thought but then y'all just stop thinking for some reason

If you want to get really deep, the facts are that the popular vote DOES NOT DECIDE THE PRESIDENT

The electoral college chooses the president, so your popular vote is literally you showing faith in the system and NOTHING ELSE

I know how the electoral college work that's why I said I knew Obama had California in the bag already being one of my reasons that I didn't vote

Again... my first opportunity to vote was for Obama and I didn't bother to. Nor will I this time. I'm just not mad at people who do. I don't understand people who get mad at people who participate. What's the point? It's going down the way it goes down with or without you

I would also say the fact that Clinton has expressed a plan to end the school to prison pipeline vs Trump saying he wants Stop and Frisk to be actual law is a major difference too...but yeah their presidency would be the same
