when it comes to most east coast music.....I like and respect the great lyricists but have never really vibed with the overall sound....a lot of the production/beats dont catch me and ruins the chances of me listening.....probably sleeping on a lot of good material (flows wise) but the shit just dont match my groove

like I can watch JR writer freestyles on youtube and all that kinda shit and love it but Im not bangin that shit in the whip

I listen to music based on moods...Sometimes i want some pure east coast like roc marciano stack bundlea jadakiss sean price mf doom and sometimes i wanna hear gucci future outkast ugk jeezy etc

I think overall, NYC/East Coast rap excelled in the Lyricist catagory, while the South & West has MCs too, they moreso excelled in the Musicianship/Production catagory.

At the end of the day, that's what's gonna make the track most listenable. The MUSIC...
