I'm from the South and I prefer lyrics and not dumbdowned

Are you saying us down south prefer dumb downed music? I don't quite understand how you being from the south has anything to do with what you like.

If we're going to act like the "MAJORITY" of dumbdowned music doesn't come from this area I don't know what to tell you.

Me being from here I seen it first-hand. I grew up in era where there wasn't many southern artist in hip hop BUT those that were spit lyrics not dummy rap. Ball & MJG, OutKast, Poison Clan, Geto Boyz, and a few other's. Then shift came to dummy rap more about the beat than the ryhme.

I like artist from all regions (except BTNH fuck them). Give all rappers a chance but to me it's about lyrics for me no matter where you're from

Now explain why northerners didn't fuck with those artist in the 80s and 90s? Why outkast got booed ? As great as they were it took til the mid 2000s for them to get legend recognition? U got folk who don't even know who poison clan is.... but if u from the south u do... u know why? Cuz of folk bein directly or indirectly region biased. I've heard ugk called wack on the ic.

You have Southerners who never heard of the Bush Babies, MOP, or Organized Konfusion. If they did they would probably say was wack also So What's your point?

Local or regional(like UGK,Yaggu Front, and Hyphy cats) acts are not going to have the same appeal to the masses. You can't expect everyone to like the same groups you like. East coast or NY'ers come off the way they come off because they started hiphop so for the longest everyone was from there. Then Cali came then the South.

Also the South run hip hop but southern niggas is still acting like they're losing for some reason. That makes no sense to me.

Oh and Ball and G>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>UGK in every way

in the south we dont choose one over the other we fuck with both bal and g and ugk.... ur post pretty kuch is in agreeance with mine... folk dont listen to those groups because they arent from that region and cant relate/prefer their shit more

Rakim said this years ago in a song called "In the Ghetto" ....

I come correct, and I won't look back

Cause it ain't where you're from, it's where you're at

My top 6 where 2 from the south 3 from the east 1from the west, I am of course exposed to more Music from my region and Love my local artists that put out fire but that does not make me Biased I love slaps that bang from anywhere... On that note though I am biased against shitty wack music and entertainers...

If you were born between 1983-2014 then you're a millennial

Yeah....we need a new word because millenial seems like a mind state for little fucks....ppl just label them wrong

A lot of us that were born in the mid to early 80's don't really gel with "millenials" like that, even though, by definition, we are them. I like to say I'm part of the Oregon Trail Generation.

I just love dope music. For me, it didn't matter where the artist was from. I was probably the only dude in high school that could jump from listening to M.O.P to Geto Boys to the Alkaholiks. Being from the east coast I did see a lot of bias growing up but it never affected my love for hip hop everywhere.

Haha yeah I did training in bmore for work and they had us take a test to see what age bracket we belong in and I'm so happy I tested out of the millenial bracket......millenials have a large gap of years...i think some of the other brackets are only like 10-15 years

I listen to all 4 us regions hip hop.

But I will say I listen to more East Coast

50% of it is East coast

25% of it is South

15% of it is West coast

10% of it is Mid West

Yeah, I was born in early 87 and I don't identify with what they consider millennials. I was a part of the dial 7 numbers when in your own area code era. The no caller ID/use your answering machine for screening calls era. Back when you had to bag up your system and controllers and go to a friend's house if you wanted to play a game with them.

Na, good hip hop is good hip-hop. I'm from NJ, but I'm a big Curren$y fan. I think Game and Mc Eiht are dope. And got Common and Lupe in my top 5. Hip-hop is universal.
