Don't get too excited @deadeye‌

I'm willing to bet this is only part of the settlement

Not saying another check but she'll get some more in assets and other accounts

If he made the fortune while they were together why is she not entitled to half of it?

Why does being together mean she's entitled to what he's built?

You're not only assuming she had something to do with it, but that she was instrumental in making and maintaining at least HALF of his ENTIRE fortune.

Loving a woman and her being equally responsible for your life's work are two ENTIRELY different things. Women tryna turn leaving a nigga into a pay day; Gtfoh. ( I've been saying that a lot lately, lol )

You don't get married for love, marriage is a business move.

Very strong words indeed.. .

I wish the married folk who post here can confirm that

It's probably true for some, but it's bullshit for most people. Other than a tax break, marriages usually aren't mutually beneficial for both people. One person more often than not is going to have to support the other more financially than the other way around.

Honestly, marriage would be a pretty stupid business move. Sure it could save you some money, but no one is just going to live with another person for business reasons forever. So sooner or later that business arrangement will fail, and you can bet the divorce fallout will be ugly in a set up like that.

Let's just agree to give credit where it's due.

Just speculation, but I'm thinking that after "careful consideration" she realized she'd be a damn fool not to cash a check for nearly a billion dollars.

Maybe she'll get more, or maybe she won't....but at least she had sense enough to realize that her best option was to cash that check while it was still available and, in the process, avoiding the chance of any further litigation not going in her favor.

According to the latest update:

It's unclear whether the check's cashing will end the bitter divorce proceedings, but it's likely that accepting the benefits of the settlement will end the appeal process

That and the fact that, due to declining stock prices, his fortune is closer to $7 billion than $18 billion.

It was wise of her to cash the check before the market value (stock price) of the fortune declined any further.

yeah.. what @deadeye said. The guy was in the business of fracking... If you live in or keep up with texas (particularly north texas) news, you'll see that fracking shit is going no where. If Irving, Tx becomes a sink hole, this guys assets go to $0 quick.

So it's not unrealistic to think he was loosing money by they day. Also, she was appealing a judges settlement. That $1 billion wasn't out of the goodness of his heart, he probably liquified some assets and paid to get this broad out of his life. This had already been close to a 3 year process at this point, now going into money grab mode, we need to appraise some shit which means more time off the clock and they aren't getting any younger. Keep in mind that fracking is becoming more and more a bad word by the day. This move was really the best move she could have made. SMH at looking at the marriage part as a business and not the actual business that made the fortune as a business.

yall need to watch the social network...talkin bout nothing she does as a wife or lawyer entitles her to his fortune...lol as if he just punched a clock & scrimped & saved to 18 billi. No individual can amass that much wealth on their own. no matter how hard or smart they work.

TRUE... YOU GET IT FROM THE WORK OF OTHERS....

did anybody quote Prhyme in this thread yet? Yes? No? ehhh fuck it i don't feel like checking the whole thread so here:

Only time a woman made a man a millionaire

Was when that man was a former billionaire, how trill is that?

Meaning what the original check turns into a hot check ?

This whole thread is based on speculation and assumption

I still stand by my original post

This isn't over ....lol

lol i hope some of you niggas in here wife divorce you and try to take a nice chunk of your change and we'll see how fair it is and how willing you are to part with the bread and lol at using the law as justification like this country doesn't have some of the dumbest laws

If she cashed the check.. Hopefully this story disappears.. Let this thing die so she can go on with the rest of her life and he can go on with his..

As far as marriage is concerned.. IMO its no different than dating/co-habitating with someone.. Ultimately the individuals involved dictate whether or not it will be a mutually beneficial/mutually enjoyable experience. Like most things in life you get out what you put in.. That goes for both parties.. The same things that makes a great relationship make a great marriage.. Hate to be biblical and shit.. But God made Eve so she can be a companion to Adam.. You aint gotta get married.. But everybody needs somebody...

I hope duke learned something:

At this point, he should never get married again. No way should any other female be broke off this much if that shit doesn't work.

What could possibly go wrong in an 18 billion dollar relationship?

I can't think of one thing that would make me separate from a 26 year marriage with that much accumulated wealth, can y'all help me with this one?

@‌ IC rich niggas

A man would have to literally be kicking my ass while having an affair on top of my battered body while on the phone plotting against my family.

Anything short of that we can work out...
