Don't get too excited @deadeye
I'm willing to bet this is only part of the settlement
Not saying another check but she'll get some more in assets and other accounts
@MsSouthern
Let's just agree to give credit where it's due.
Just speculation, but I'm thinking that after "
careful consideration" she realized she'd be a damn fool not to cash a check for nearly a billion dollars.
Maybe she'll get more, or maybe she won't....but at least she had sense enough to realize that her best option was to cash that check while it was still available and, in the process, avoiding the chance of any further litigation not going in her favor.
According to the latest update:
It's unclear whether the check's cashing will end the bitter divorce proceedings, but it's likely that accepting the benefits of the settlement will end the appeal process
That and the fact that, due to declining stock prices, his fortune is closer to $7 billion than $18 billion.
It was wise of her to cash the check before the market value (stock price) of the fortune declined any further.
