Kids? Define kids. We talking about pre-teens, teens, young adults, or all of the above? I'll just assume all of the above.

Lost? In what context? I'll just assume that lost = stupid, as in not being able to tell the difference between "good" and "bad" music.

Nevermind the generalizations and stereotypes, but kids today have a preference for a diverse number of styles, so I can't speak for all kids. Though I do believe that a lot of kids aren't mature enough to fully realize or appreciate "good" music when they hear it. These kind of kids are just too impressionable and wet behind the ears. Try getting a kid to listen to Miles Davis and he might just shrug his shoulders, so it's not just hip hop music but all kinds of music. But their preferences evolve and mature over time, so you can't blame kids for being kids. When I was a kid I thought Mystikal was the greatest alive (not really but you get my point).

But none of this is new. Whether in the present or past, kids will be kids. We can't expect too much from them.

Hip hop today is doing better than it was around '05 in terms of diversity and substance. As bad as it seems now it was waaaaaay worse back then

Listen to what you like. When I was a teenager I listened to rap mostly but also much from the 70's. Some from before that and R&b etc. of the time (the 90's). I even listened to some jazz. Im tellin the truth. Same as now. Its mostly rap but I may pop on some Earth wind and fire or something. Whatever i feel like listening to.

Rakim and KRS were still dope tho. KRS-1's biggerst commercial hit was "Step into Our World" in 1997. Rakims solo debut "The 18th letter" came out in 1997 so niggaz was definitely checking them. I'll give you Run DMC though, their time had past for the most part.

No and No. Music evolves. Just like did from the 80's to gangsta rap, from gangsta to shiny suits, from snap to trap.

What happens as time passes and you get older, of course they wont like what you like. Just enjoy your music and not worry about it as much. No One is forcing you to listen to this new music. whip out that ipod

if hip hop aint change it woulda died out now...

why u think "regions" are suffering now... old heads/people from da region stuck in da past.. and get mad @ people if dey "dont sound like dey from dat region"...
