I remember when I was trying to put cats on J. Cole right after I first heard The Warm Up but folks wasn't trying to hear it. When he signed with Jay all of sudden people were fans...same with KL, I guess he's gonna have to sign to a big time major before people pay attention.
I'm good with him touring with Macklemore if it can expose him to a broader audience because that's what he needs. Not saying I want a bunch of yuppies trying to "make" KRIT but if they can get him played then that's cool with me.
He's signed to Def Jam bruh.
Yeah...Dead Jam

Call it what u want, it's still a major and still a company that's helped provide many of plaques. It ain't their fault his music ain't crossing over. If he wanted to stay pat with what he's comfortable doing he shouldve just stayed indie.

Newsflash: people outside Miss. shit on Miss., non country people will shit on country people, people from different regions of the country shit on the other. KRIT is unabashedly southern and country, which i've seen is a turnoff for some people. songs like "Gumpshun", "Cool to Be Southern", etc are not gonna be popular outside country areas. just like people in North Miss. are prolly not bumping Troy Ave or Clyde Carson. you're not gonna understand unless you live in an area different from Miss.

Pimp C made unabashedly country rap songs too and he knew that it meant working with a smaller market than if he had changed UGK's sound. Sometime is just not worth it.

i also notice how most Boston/Lawrence (where Reks, Termanology etc. are from) tend to make straight up NY style boom bap. almost as if to appeal to the big hip hop city in the East (NYC). i think Boston would be better off trying to create their own sounds, especially with the internet. Boston/New England rappers/producers historically always move to NYC to try to get on

The purpose of major labels is to broaden the fanbase, increase media attention, develop talent, and distribute content. All of that equals "crossing over" so yeah, it's Def Jam's fault.

You have good points that's why I usually agree....I think his issue is he thinks he's "selling out" if he conforms to making music for the radio....I think he just has to work through it....I don't think he'll ever be that huge star but I believe he should be a lot more known than he is....too talented not to be....you can't deny that
