I don't think all black people with "white accents" are doing it purposefully. It's about where you're raised. I don't have a valley accent, but I was raised in both the suburbs and the hood throughout my life, so I've been exposed to both sides so to speak. My ex HATED the fact that I listened to so-called white music as well. I couldn't listen to it around him, which was fine. I can't bring myself to dislike anyone who talks a certain way because I can understand why in a lot of cases.

I get that you should remember at the end of the day, you're black, and not make it your mission to look down on black people who are not "like you". Especially when you soft-shoe for white people and degrade your own race to fit in with them. Generally though, I don't think that's the case.
