and a black person that has grew up around white people and their influence reflected off that nigga's behavior or how they speak etc, but still is able to communicate with black people and have black associates.

This is how i see it. Like other have said you are a product of your environment. So as long as you are being "yourself" and not trying to change yourself to mold yourself to fit any type of stereotypical image of what others think you should be,I can respect that.

But I get what KingJamal is saying. He is opposed to those black people who are willfully ignorant of their own cultural and ethnic identity. Those who go out of there way to distance themselves from being in any way being perceived as a "black person" other than their actual skin color. Those individuals who have that deeply embedded but unconscious self hate type of mentality. I get what is being said.

But with that being said, how do we as "African Americans" view our true cultural and ethnic identity? Because when you look at it we really don't have one, and the stereotypical image of what it means to be "black" is one that is dictated to us through the media and music. Our true cultural identity was lost in SLAVERY. The only identity we have now can be one of three things. You can assimilate into this american culture, which really is what we all perceive as being "white". You can act like the stereotypical black person. Or you can be somewhere in the middle. So regardless of what category you think you fall into, you really can't hate on the next person because they are only being what they were taught to be....
