Naw...I feel like this is a misconception...Relatable shit sells...No matter what it's about, if it resonates and can be with/can be pushed to a large group of people, it will sell...Most the highest selling rap albums/singles aren't "ignorant"...Dumbing your shit down won't necessarily make you blow...But making a relatable ass song and promoting it properly will never fail...The masses aren't dumb, the masses just wanna hear shit they can understand and relate to...That's why music een means anything to us, because something about a certain song/sound hits us...James won with "All Gold Everything", cause it hit people...
