I remember clearly when we used to rewind the tape just to see tht side titty action

People keep oversimplifying the issue as it just being about nudity. Its not. Its more about her reasons for getting nude and the image it promotes. Females kill me whining about being objectified, but the turning around and defending other women who use that objectification to profit. You can't have it both ways.

Let's be honest. Rihanna is a dumb industry sex slave. There's no intention behind her posing nude. She does it for attention. She's allowed to do it if she wants to, but let's not act as if it's somehow a liberating statement to do something that Josephine Baker did 60 years ago.

TLC DIDN'T need to sell sex. I think they had a message that was geared towards female empowerment. They had songs about HIV and safe sex that were coupled with being comfortable with their sexuality. I don't get any kind of consciousness from Rihanna's end. TLC offered street smarts while all Rihanna offers is physical beauty and sex, but without depth.

It's not Rihanna's job to make music with social commentary tho. She's an entertainer, not a role model. I don't know why you'd even expect her music, or any mainstream pop star, to have those types of messages in their music. Go listen to some India Arie or somethin, damn. smh

let's keep it really real tho..........weren't TLC some industry slaves too?

IMO I understand the sentiment of trying to preach to the younger generation, but some of these oldheads should fall back

Rih's image is no more fucked up than TLC's in that regard............one famous for selling sexual images...........other group is famous for being talented birds who made bad personal decisions

in either case they should be supporting instead of criticizing each other publicly
