If u falsely accuse someone the prosecutor can go after u

Also if u win the loser pays ur court bills

All u need is 3 jurors and lawyers dont lie for u

The Casey Anthony case is actually proof that the American justice system works IMO. People dont' understand the concept of burden of proof. How can you convict someone of murder when you don't even know how the victim died?

no....it puts too many people away for too long for nonviolent crimes. it criminalizes acts that need not be criminalized, the government should not be policing morality.... many laws, especially federal ones, are vague... prosecutors have way too much power.... the death penalty is barbaric and there's always going to be the possibility that innocent men and women may be put to death. mandatory minimum sentences, deny judges discretion during sentencing. politics have also weakened the legal system. too many legislators want to be known as being " tough on crime, so they push for longer sentences on crimes that have already harsh sentences.... tort reform has reduced our rights as america citizens from filing a lawsuit against someone
who caused you harm, and our right to receive full compensation for your losses and suffering, now that the prison industry has become privatized law officials are locking people up for a profit and theres little interest in rehabilitation of criminals or prevention of more crime.

we doing better than a lot of countries..... however the us has the largest prison population in the world and most of our prison population consists of nonviolent, small time offenders who have fallen behind bars as a consequence to the nonsensical drug war, mandatory minimum sentencing, socioeconomic issues associated with poverty and racism, bad laws, etc..... the system needs major reform.

Not to mention the fact that the whole "Innocent until proven guilty" phrase is complete bullshit. I mean it's literally the opposite considering that if you're accused of a serious enough crime that you may or may not have committed, you go to jail and stay in jail (if you can't afford to make bail) until your trial. If you're in a court system where there's overcrowding you could wait for your trial for months. So you're sitting in jail for that long before you even get a chance to go to court...what part of being innocent is that?

also the law would be clear and easy to understand

lawyers and police wouldnt lie or do deals

also there wouldnt be double jeopardy

right... if you don't have money for bail and/or a competent lawyer you're considered and treated like a criminal until YOU get the chance prove otherwise and that's only if you can

the majority of the time the american justice system only works for the rich and powerful

I gotta disagree, too many people get locked up for some dumb shit. Too many people get thrown in jail cuz they anit white or got a good lawyer. Also too many people that do serious crimes be on death row way too fucking long. Other countries kill there inmates much quicker for doing serious crimes.

Disagree.

Mostly because of the whole jury of your peers thing. I don't recognized in 12 random people any type of superiority or equalty that would make them qualified to judge my actions, I would much rather be solely judged by someone that as actually dedicated a great part of their life to study crime, punish and sentence. I think it's only fair that way, Americans should be enraged.

rightttttt....

in the 80s by privatizing the prison system the government have created a new corporate class whose very existence will depend upon those prisons being filled to capacity with human beings... as a result the owners will send lobbyists to Washington, who will then bribe our representatives into passing more-and-more punitive laws that will ensure that those prisons are overcrowded and prisoners institutionalized...

thank you war on drugs !

i salute the common sense in here

TS dipped out

he had no valids

but he rides for Casey

I didn't dip out, I just have other stuff to do....

1. I didn't have a dog in this fight, I just posed question and left.

2. I don't ride for Casey, I just don't think the Prosecution PROVED she was guilty. Circumstantial evidence should never be enough to convict someone
