the problem with the "what is racism?" debate is that ppl fail to realize that simply not liking ppl based on race is trivial and not worth serious discussion.
influencing the 'life chances' of a group of ppl based on race is important.
so when one says 'black ppl can't be racist', it is obvious that 'racist' is being used in the sociological context

So now it's about the context in which the word is being used? And I reject the notion that I'm a smart dumb nigga, sir. I disagree that it's about semantics....the premise that a specific race can not be racist is false to me. We can talk about the different types of racism whether it be individual, institutional, structural etc and the effects of it but that's not what the discussion is.
Black people say they can't be "racist" in a traditional sense as an excuse to say whatever the fuck they want about white folk and other races.

I don't mean to interject your cat fight....no pun intended lol but can you explain to me how blacks can not be racist? Surely it would depend on how to define racism but if you define racism as Merriam Webster defines it “the belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race,” then couldn't blacks be racist? Or if you define is as “prejudice and discrimination rooted in race-based loathing,” then again couldn't blacks be racist? Or even the simplistic definition as defined by Google "a person who believes that a particular race is superior to another". I'm just curious as to how you define racism and why can't blacks be racist?
There is racism in every race for multiple reasons.
IGNORANCE AND FEAR are the first reasons. Cause naturally in front of somebody who doesnt look , speak, and behave like you, you will feel suspicious and stand on your defensive. But the longer you interact with somebody different the more you accept each other PROVIDED there is no inteference such as VIOLENCE and DECEPTION.
That natural racism has evolved into an economic and cultural one : race superiority. Since caucasians and arabs have enslaved us for centuries and also colonialyzed us, some of their people will do their best to maintain that state of domination WHATEVER THE FORM.
They might not despise you but they feel like racial domination is an heritage they should transmit to the next generations.
But their is a glitch into that systematic racism :
- race mixing
- demography
- human conscience evolution (ex : voting for OBAMA)
- economics laws
- wars unfortunately
Imo racism will never disapear easily. Its will evolve as we do as humanity as long as we educate men and women to dominate. As long as we still seek power instead of sharing.
Go to Africa you will experience black on black racism. Come to Europe you will experience white on white racism. Western eurpeans feel superior as hispanic europeans and eastern ones.
I never did find that thread to comment but I did have the conversation with a few friends and they did agree that any race can be racist. That doesn't exclude blacks. Either way, difference of opinion but not everyone will agree with everything.
Therefore, blacks can't be racists because we're not in an institutional position of power in which we can impose racism on whites on the same scale that they have on us.
