I was at work when I heard about this. I have a 7yo and a 2yo and I can say without a shadow of a doubt, I'd never leave him alone with his brother. Not because I'm scared that he'd hurt him, but because that's not his responsibility. At 8, you should be busy being a kid, playing beyblade or some other toy. A 1yo shouldn't be at the top of the list.

Mother probably wouldn't be telling the father she planned on leaving an 8 year old in charge of 6 kids. Unless you physically there, you can't know.

Sad story all around, but that kid won't be right as he gets older. He was already off cause not all 8 year old kids are beating a 1 year old to death, no matter how much they cry. Let them lay in the crib and close the door maybe, but not this.

The kid did a horrible thing, but he's only 8 years old.

He shouldn't be charged with murder or even be a part of the criminal justice system at all.

Therapy would be more appropriate.

Granted, he shouldn't be free to roam the streets.....but he should be placed in a psychiatric facility instead of a prison.

Agreed. This is America though where this country "eats" its young. If it was in the suburbs with little "Ryan" or "Timmy" they probably wouldn't even charge him. Like you said they would give him therapy for X amount of years and put him back into society.
