Puff fucks people out of their money. He ain't no real hustler

Puff and Jimmy Henchman were weathering death threats from Suge & Pac while Jay was hidin' under Dame & Biggs. Puff been standing on his own and impacting the culture since 1990. HE INVENTED THE REMIX & he is a real hustler. He can't rhyme like Jay but he can find the talent and develop the talent unlike Jay. He should get his just due respect.

Puff and the Hitmen produced 6 tracks on Jay's American Gangster and used his video for Ciroc promo.

Diddy and Shakir Stewart put Jeezy in the game and Shakir Stewart put Rozay in the game. People always give Jay credit for stuff that he didn't do and neglect everyone else. Diddy is just as powerful as Jay in his own way. The only edge Jay has is the forbes list.

@RaHaLLdaY

1st of all let me correct you. G-Dep also didn't have much "success". He had a hot single aaaaaannnd...poof he was gone. I liked his album personally. I dont think it was his fault; it seemed to me he didn't get alot of push from BB. Then of course we found out he is homeless and a crackhead. Whole other story.

G Dep still experienced some success. He had 2 songs. Special Delivery, Special Delivery the remix and the Lets get it song with P. Diddy and G Dep. Diddy didn't tell dude to get on crack and for others to not properly go over contracts or mismanage funds. He's released ten times the successful acts IN RAP THAN JAY Z. Jay's only successful rappers came under Dame tutelage.

Secondly, ONE of the definitions of a "mogul" is a extremely powerful business person.

Diddy is a powerful business person who built his empire on his own. Unlike Jay Z.

Can we really consider Puffy to ever be a rapper? REALLY?! No.

Diddy has 5 successful albums ranging from 7M sold to Gold. He also has the record for most 1 single hits by a rapper.

Puffy's strength has always been on the business side and initially Puffy was the man, second to Russell Simmons because no matter what people say,Russell was the original HipHop Mogul.

Puffy and Russell are still the man. Jay and 50 too, but Jay has been boosted up the most with a lot of help over them all.

Its not about who you had as an artist, the albums you put out of the artist, blah blah blah....ITS ABOUT THE MOVES YOU MAKE BUSINESS WISE, and the success of your ventures you produce from your craft.

Diddy has done all of that blah blah blah, Sean John netted 100M in 2006 alone. And it is about the artists you put OUT as well, otherwise Russell would not be mentioned. Quit with the double standards and Camel Jockeying. Camel and produce no rap success other than himself.

50 bigged up Vitamin Water, bought it, and then sold it for 240mil or something like that?! Thats GOOD BUSiNESS! and Jay has been making moves of that caliper for the last 5, 6 years!?!?

Good move. Ciroc has reported soaring profits since their partnership with Diddy as well but we don't know what the exact numbers are.

Don't ever listen to one's competitor about how much another persons worth. IF thats the case 50 definitely ain't worth what he thinks he is then.

When the top wealthiest blacks were listed in 2009, Jay Z was on it for 150M, that may be actual worth so there's some truth to what Fif says. Many people behind the scenes have invested in the Jay Z brand. This is not a one man show.

All you really have to ask yourselves is ...who has the MOST influence on the culture and society on the entertainment perspective right now??

The answer is rather easy.

Sean is equally as influential as Shawn.

As far as G-Dep, you have a weird barometer for success. G-Dep is known for a SONG, which he also remixed, and thats what you consider his success? Idiots release songs that have play value everday(albeit horrible music) does that make them successful? Sorry not to me. Thats called an achievement. I'm not going to war for G-Dep but I don't think he was done right. Like I said, thats my personal opinion.

JAY-Z has been building his OWN empire for the LAST 4-5 years without his past business partners. Ray Charles can see this and he's dead.

You are going to actually make an argument for Puffy as a rapper? I'm dumbfounded. Puffy is not a rapper. He is a POP ARTIST WHO RAPPED. He also rapped to keep his label moving after BIG died. He had turned himself into entertainer to appeal to the masses. If Puffy thought he could sing R&B he would! What the hell has he rapped about with any consistency in the last 10 years!? GTFOH.

See now you have exposed yourself with your biase. What in this conversation deems to call Jay-Z a camel or any other name? The origins of the thread is being objective as to who is the most powerful (1. RAPPER) & (2.MOGUL). I didn't detect any malice in the question. Puffy was never a REAL RAPPER. JAY-Z STILL IS A REAL RAPPER.

And you need to get your facts straight. Puffy did not do it all by himself. NOBODY WHO IS A MULTIMILLIONAIRE DOES IT BY THEMSELVES. That is a ignorant and foolish statement. Lets remember his ARTISTS were contributing factor of his wealth. Stop being a hypocrite. Funny thing is, Jay-Z has outsold all of BB artists combined. I'm not taking anyside here. Get out of your feelings.

Jay-Z topped out at 1# on the Forbes list of richest rappers in 2009 at 35mil followed by Puffy with 30mil(of course mainstream media considers puffy a rapper ) and Yeezy at 25mil. Jay-Z was "reportedly" at above 150mil, but in 2010, his worth is abouve 450mil. He is now considered by Forbes to be a billionaire by 2015. Lets not get into Armadale which Jay and the rock powerboosted and Ace of Spaces Champy numbers after Jay put them on the map. You think Ciroc numbers out did Ace of Spades!?!?!? I think not dookie.

Who could right now sell out a show at Madison? Who did Prez Obama call to help with his campaign 2 1/2 years ago?

Puffy equal to Jay at this very monent in time? Stop sniffing paint cans son.

Well if you go by networth, it's Jay, Puff, and 50, all that other shit is just speculative nonsense. I'll go with a the credible source of Forbes!

Diddy is a mogul to be reckoned with.

Bad Boy records has been smashing the game since 1993....From The Norotious B.I.G in '94 to Janelle Monea in 2010.

List of Bad Boys Gold & Platinum plaques

Diddy as an artist has sold 12 million albums and he cant rap or sing..that takes skill.

Diddy as a producer has multi-platunum success, he's so bad he was the associate producer on JayZ's "American Gangster" and produced 7 of the tracks.

Bad Boy records has sold over 60 million albums in the U.S. alone more than Roc-A-Fella and G-Unit...Not just rap music but R&B as well.

Biggie, Mary J. Blige, Jadakiss, Mase, Faith Evans, Shyne, Black Rob, Carl Thomas, Total.

JayZ and 50cent cant touch Sean Combs when it comes to running a music label in this industry.

As far as power goes in the music business I gotta roll with the guy that has had the most success, I dont know how much of JayZ's success was Dame and Biggs, and 50Cent is a horrible C.E.O.

This is about rapper moguls. Using your criteria the list would still be the same with just a few added names like Will and P. Jay and or 50 seems to be the peoples champ so I'll make one final list for the folks.

1. Shawn Carter

2. Curtis Jackson

3. Sean Combs

4. Brian Williams

5. Percy Miller

6. O'shea Jackson

7. Marshall Mathers

8. Kanye West

9. Calvin Broadus/Will Smith

10. Jermaine Dupri

Peace out y'all.

Is that your ranking?

Its between Russel and Diddy who gets the number one spot. Simmons was the King from 85-97, afterwards Diddy took over. I wonder why people are arguing about 50. His vitamin water deal was the only thing he has done, his music career is dying since GRODT, can't act, his investments from clothing, books to dildos etc. failed.

1. Russel Simmons

2. P. Diddy

3. Master P

4. Jay-Z

5. Will Smith

6. Ice Cube

7. JD

8. Kanye West

9. Marshall Mathers
