Eminem is nowhere near my top 10.

I've never played an Eminem album, outside the Eminem Show, more than twice, IN LIFE.

Rap is about shared references. You can tell the blacks who grew up closer to whites, because

they feel Em. To those who grew up in a stereotypically "black" background, the shit he raps

about might as well be Chinese.

That's not a diss to my niggas Stew or Sion neither, but, a lot of niggas don't understand yall putting Em

in the goats list, like how whites don't understand how Trayvon Martin was considered to be criminally murdered by most niggas.

THe lack of understanding comes from being from two different perspectives/world views.

I didnt see this earlier. This is what im sayin. Its no disrepect to all the black Emimem fans, Lol But i just dont get it.

Like for example, Im a Jay fan. i occaisionally go back and listen to Reasonable Doubt. Im a Nas fan, i can play Illmatic right now. If you're a grown Eminem fan, soooo, how does that work? How do you go back and listen to 'chica chica slim shaady. Hi! My name is!'. Eh? You cringed just now, didnt you? You grown now, you not a rebellious teen, how do you rock wit his rebellious teen content?

And you know how you rap along to a song at home/in the club and get in ya little rhythm? You rap the words like u the one wrote it. Yall know what i mean! So how does one---a black man--- rap along to 'I AM , whatever u say i am!' or 'Please stand up, please stand up'? Like how does that even work. I dont get it.

You trying to hard to come off all knowledgable but continue to make yourself look like an idiot.

I mean you do know where the hook from The Way I Am comes from right without Googling it.

I dont know or associate with any nggas that rock out to Eminem, b. Thats the bottom line. If you black and you dont acknowledge this i tip my hat to you, but we cut from a different cloth. This is not a debate irl. And i hate havin debates online, that are not topics irl

There you have you it, instead of coming up with dumb ass reasons to Big Up Jay which is easily destroyed with-anyone with common sense and actual knowledge of hiphop.

A simple I don't like/listen to Em cause he's white and I'm black was all that is needed.

Cause everything else you posted was complete bullshit.

@ the bolded. It's not as simple as black and white. I'll admit he's talented but I'm turned off by the amount of media attention he got compared to other rappers of his era that were just as talented (Canibus, Black Thought, Big Pun, Busta, etc.). Its not that I don't like him because he's white. Its that he gets too much attention because he's white, so I don't like him.

There's no way in hell he should have sold 45 million units. His music just isn't that good.

The Roots should have sold 45 million units.

It still holding resentment because he white. Some of it just subconscious with out knowing just wanting to see someone that looks or represents you, do well, not just rap, sports but life in General.

It happens in sports every year, no different than anything else in life.

It's not subconscious. I'm well aware that I don't like Eminem and the reason I don't like him is because he gets too much media attention.
The reason he gets so much media attention is because he's white. He admits it himself. There's nothing subconscious about it.

What it all boils down to is the quality of the music and you can't say with a strait face that the quality of his music deserved to sell 45 million units. No way.

I can name sooooo many albums that were better than Eminem albums but they don't sell as much. I agree that that frustrates me but its not subconscious.

Eminem's music has little to no replay value but I will admit his pen game is amongst the elites when he puts his mind to it.

HAHAHAHA

Ngga you aint callin out shyt. Doesnt matter how far this culture has moved from its origin, its still THE CULTURE. And if you, im assuming a black man, willfully disregard cultural aspects of hip hop just b/c white america and white teens tell you, kill yourself.

In fact 'corny' is a designation white america cant even make! They dotn know how to differentiate. Thats why Flo-Rida to them is an icon lls So no, im not gonna play dumb like hip hop culutre is not selective.

I have been speaking on Hip Hop Culture and more specific rap music, a lot of the reasons you gave throughout this thread as to why Jay is bigger than Em had nothing to do with either.

Yet all this talk about culture you still don't where the Hook " The Way I Am Comes from.

Since Jay return there a reason Euro Jay gets thrown around, what culture he been rapping about? Folks in The hood and most urban areas are not wearing Tom Ford.

You made reference to that song and in relation to be grown men in clubs knowing his shit.

Retarded logic 1.. Em is not and never been a club/party rapper

2. To play the grown man cringing in the club angle..Any grown ass mature man that is not a ignant cat wouldn't co-sign shit like Hey Papi, Big Pimpin either.

So does Eminem's white skin equal Pac & Big's death?

Black Eminem = Eminem not poppin like he is

Pac & Big living = Jay not poppin like he is.

Its just funny cause after 2003, they're both been wack. One album really worth mentioning from the both of them (AG, Recovery)

Ok, I'll entertain this BS.

Who bought all those Eminem records? What does an Eminem show look like? Who's shows have fans from all demographics and who's shows have mainly white kids with their parents (like a kiddy pop artists' concert)?

Wasn't nothing kiddie about this concert.

Exactly nigga never even been to a Em concert, you lose all credibility when you start saying anything

But I can't really say because I don't go to clubs where whites frequent. I know damn well if a DJ played one of those records at a Black club he'd get run out of the DJ booth before the record was over.

Lol @ comparing Em to Michael Jackson. Michael damn Jackson . But thats a good one to catch nggas who dont pay attention Haha it doesnt apply since Mike was in the spotlight already his whole life but good one.

At the end of the day, yes Em just by being white, could have done a lot more with his name/brand, but he didnt. So judging by what they have done, cmon.

Rap-wise and catalogue-wise, i literally unil now did not know this was even up for 'debate'. More outsiders and new nggas i guess. I thought it was well known his albums are fodder when it comes to judging catalogues. Bar for bar, thought it was well known that NGGAS dont relate to that shyt he spittin. (This IS still hip hop, right? Or are we gonna start to value teeny boppers n white kids' opinions now). Respect his talent, sure, but when did nggas actually start looking at him with the Goats? Im shocked. I promise i dnt know or associate w/ any nggas irl who would argue Em vs Jay rap wise.

And if Em beats out Jay due to album sales and popularity, then where does Nas fall? If Em's legacy and status in hip hop is solely based on album sales, thats a shaky ass foundation.

And Rakim.some of yall more agenda driven than the news I swear

So I personally cant imagine (nh) a ngga rapping to Eminem, like as a diehard fan. Like thats not a punchline or a joke. I got nothing, like how does that work bumpin Eminem in the whip? I cant see it homie. I envision (nh) a corny ass ngga rappng along to an EMinem song. I see that black ngga supporting Darren WIlson

I mean no disrespect! I AM WRONG! Its me, not yall. Im small minded! But I ,we, dont do that where im at. We not rockin out to Eminem. Recognize the talent but his story, his angle...eh, nah. Im good. But again, thats, just me.

Cosign 100%. Black people recognize Em has talent but we don't listen to him

Furthermore, Eminem makes inferior music. White people can't dispute that. Black music/musicians/artists have always made superior music. Go all the way back to when Jazz and Blues were new and you had artists like Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Nina Simone, Count Basie then fast forward to the 60s and you have Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Art Blakey, Max Roach,The Temptations, The Supremes, Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, Kool and the Gang, The Jackson 5, Prince, Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, Erykah Badu, Maxwell, Whitney Houston, Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis and the list is literally endless.

After you've dissected all of those groups put an Eminem Cd in the deck and tell me that he's on the same caliber of the legends I just listed. White people have and continue to make inferior music. Every once in a while a white person makes a good song but the overwhelming majority of the best music is made by Black artists/musicians and nobody who is serious about music would dispute that. Plain and simply Black artists/musicians excel at making music. Eminem might be exceptionally and unusually talented/gifted when it comes to writing rhymes, but he doesn't know how to make good music.

I mean you do know where the hook from The Way I Am comes from right without Googling it.

dukie.gif

I dont know or associate with any nggas that rock out to Eminem, b. Thats the bottom line. If you black and you dont acknowledge this i tip my hat to you, but we cut from a different cloth. This is not a debate irl. And i hate havin debates online, that are not topics irl

There you have you it, instead of coming up with dumb ass reasons to Big Up Jay which is easily destroyed with-anyone with common sense and actual knowledge of hiphop.

A simple I don't like/listen to Em cause he's white and I'm black was all that is needed.

Cause everything else you posted was complete bullshit
.

You close your eyes and zone out to 'Just Lose It'. *Tips cap*. Enjoy the rest of your day fam. nh

Step up the debate skills and overall hiphop knowledge instead of talking out ya ass cause you will get called on the bullshit.

See, you try to disregard nggas politely but they take kindness for weakeness.

Ngga you aint callin out shyt. Doesnt matter how far this culture has moved from its origin, its still THE CULTURE. And if you, im assuming a black man, willfully disregard cultural aspects of hip hop just b/c white america and white teens tell you, kill yourself.

According to white america Iggy Azalea is a pop rap icon, Maclemore > Kendrick Lmar, Gucci Mane and 2 Chainz are representative of black america.

In other words, when when i discuss things on this site, im asuming im amongst commoners. I dont dicuss includign their opinion. They not of my culture. So why would their opinion matter when 'we' discuss the Goats in 'our' shyt. Eminem not bein a Goat isnt b/c he's white. He's not a goat b/c his catalogue is corny, he's corny, white or black.

1. If Em has never been a club/party rapper what was The Real Slim Shady/Without Me/Just Lose It all about? Those songs seemed like they were made for white people at nightclubs. But I can't really say because I don't go to clubs where whites frequent. I know damn well if a DJ played one of those records at a Black club he'd get run out of the DJ booth before the record was over.

2. You're buggin about Big Pimpin, that's a classic club anthem. And I'm a 40 year old Black American.

Fail 1. Those arent club records.

Fail 2. The point went over your head.. To be more specific you playing big pimping in front of ya moms, wife/gf or better yet ya daughter.

Shit you ya daughters date come thru to pick her up and he blasting saying this..

"You know I - thug em, fuck em, love em, leave em

Cause I don't fuckin need em

Take em out the hood, keep em lookin good

But I don't fuckin feed em

First time they fuss I'm breezin

Talkin bout, "What's the reasons?"

I'm a pimp in every sense of the word, bitch"

Cause as grown mature adults with common sense aint co signing that ignant bullshit.

me[/b].

Had to check one of my homies a few months back. It was around the time when everybody was doing their MT. Rushmore of NBA,NFL,actors,Hip Hop, etc. This nigga put Em on his shit and I was like FOH. I've known this nigga all my life. Between road trips, day to day rollin in each other cars, listening to music while just coolin, etc. No Em has EVER been bumped other then him being featured on somebody else shit.

Son whole argument was frail. Asked him to pinpoint Em classic albums. He said MMLP (typical).I then told him to give me 10 songs off it off top his head failed. Nigga knew Stan and probably 3 others. Meanwhile I gave him the same task with other classics & he rattled off the whole tracklists in order. I was like why front nigga. You don't like that nigga shit lol.

The problem is too many niggas (blacks) propel Eminem off outside influence and give him the whiteboy cheat code. A few niggas do fuck with Eminem forreal forreal, props to them but a good half of em just be ranking him high to appease others.

Them: Oh nah son the whiteboy cold as fuck! You hating!.

Me: Give me some quotables?

“Hip Hop is Black music, without question, and, unfortunately for some people, it’s tough to accept that you have a White artist that does it better than Black artists,” 50 Cent says during an interview with Music Choice. "It is what it is. You can get like whoever you think is the best Black artist and stand them face-to-face in a room with Em and he will eat that [guy] alive. Right now if you had 'em prepare themselves, whatever way they would have to prepare themselves to come battle…I bet what I have, everything” that Eminem would win.

50 Cent also says that Eminem has surpassed Jay Z and that the two were paired for 2010 concerts because of Jay Z’s business commitments.

“That’s Live Nation ‘cause [Jay Z] sold his touring career to Live Nation,” 50 Cent says, referring to Jay Z’s reported $150 million pact with Live Nation that was signed in 2008. "They’ve got to keep him hot enough to go get their money back. So they match ‘em up with Em, put them together ‘cause he got more momentum connected to his relationship with Beyonce and his record with Alicia. It makes sense. It makes sense, the Detroit/New York show. But it only makes sense to me because of business, it makes sense, because Em sold like 60 million records more than him. How you put ‘em there like they’re equals? It’s tough for me to say some of this [stuff] and not sound like a hater. But I don’t care.”

In June, 50 Cent appeared on an episode of Bravo's Watch What Happens Live. 50 Cent mentioned Jay Z when he was asked who he thinks is the "most overrated Hip Hop star of all time." "Overrated?" 50 said. "Jay Z. He would say he's overrated. 'Rather be overrated than underpaid.

read this on hiphopdx. but yo i don't get it. no one i know bumps em shit maybe a song here and there maybe. i don't see 50 how he thinks em can compare to jay. jay has classic rap shit em doesn't. Em can rap but where is he hiphop classics. It must be the sales that blind people. what say ya'll.

pure thoroughbred coon shit

Also nobody has mentioned (probly bc this site has a racist agenda against Em) Jay is the number 1 bitter of all time, bites a sht ton of Biggie,Snoop,Nas and even Eminem's lyrics (bit Em's "Im Back" lyrics on "Success ft Nas).

Alot of rapper's singles/songs would sound silly singing them 10+ years later, even some by Jay Z. There's plenty of non gimmicky Eminem songs you can listen to that have had lasting power you could listen to now. If you're not an Eminem fan ok, but sitting here trying to figure out why other people like his music is just stupid. Some people don't need to relate to everything they listen to in order to enjoy it. They can just enjoy the talent aspect of it. Do you literally enjoy every song Jay Z has made? Or are there times when you feel like listening to certain songs of his and don't feel like hearing others? The shit ain't rocket science. Niggas really making this shit complicated and it's not. An Eminem fan might feel like throwing on Til I Collapse, Soldier, Remember Me, I'm Back, just for the sake of hearing some rappity rap shit which Eminem is known to do. If you're a fan of the actual art of rapping just for the sake of rapping and putting words together there's Eminem songs you can listen to
