I wish other albums executive produced by No ID got as much praise as this. They're usually on this level or better but when Jay does it it's "groundbreaking".

Sidenote: wish James Fauntleroy would have made an appearance on this. I think it woulda been tough.

what?? most of NO ID 's work gets crazy love on my side of things

Yea don't you live in Chicago? Lol.

I mean it get props amongst hip hop circles but no where near the magnitude of this jawn.

Bro I remember the Life Is Good thread... that got hits and honestly I would say I preferred No ID's production on that jawn to 4:44

Its a shame that it took this album to pull me back into Hip Hop in 2017. I was beginning to lose hope with all this mumbling garbage thats out nowadays.

Clearly your ears aren't listening

Please enlighten me and I'm being serious, I'm not being a wise ass. There's so much garbage out nowadays that my love for Hip Hop has not been like it has in the past. I'd rather listen to stuff thats 15-20 years old. I just don't have the passion to check for new stuff.

Amerikkkan Badass

Bar Exam 4

Boomiverse

Damn

Us Or Else

The Wild

Rosecrans

Good vs Evil

The Falling Season

Layers

Run The Jewels 3

Blank Face

We Got It From Here

Lazy ass kneegro

Ok, I've heard Big Boi's album and Kendricks of course. I like those. Ill check out the others, thank you.

Common's The Dreamer, The Believer & Nobody Smiling were favourites too

Exactly, Common and Nas recent No ID albums were just as good as this but the name of the rapper does wonders

I've played this all the way through 4 or 5 times since it came out, the only negative I've found so far that is glaring is the hook on Smile. Hov sounds like he's holding his nose on some

Life is Good was very well received. Dreamer/Believer straight went under the radar and that album is outstanding. Very few missteps. I think TDTB is better than Life Is Good but Life Is Good could've been just as good if it cut some fat.

Hahaha I might have to use that.

I haven't heard the word groundbreaking anywhere, but i do agree his work on other albums he's done is better than what's here, these beats are good enough for someone like hov to elevate them with his flow alone.

At the same time though props to no i.d. for creating that backdrop, the vince staples album (which he got a ton of credit for) was a complete 180 to this in terms of beats, i'd say he's arguably the most competant producer in hip hop right now if you want someone overlooking your project or producing the shit for you.

Hov was spitting like Kendrick called him out on his Control verse.

Shots at alot of people. Only one I really want to hear a reply from is Camron.

Finally listened to it. As I suspected, there is some overhyping going on. I do like it though. It's a good album. I'm on the fence whether its worth buying. It's definitely not better than DAMN in my opinion. I'd put it on par with The Wild, which is definitely nothing to knock since that's my favorite album this year. I've shit Jay's catalog on multiple occasions on this site, but I think this is a legitimately good album. All this classic talk is way premature though.

I can't in my heart say this is a classic.. niggas be in the moment a lot. MCHG got that same treatment damn near & it's one of Jays worst (you don't like that, fight me). The climate in rap right now makes anything that has some thought or sense look light years ahead. When really this the type album Jay should of dropped nearly 9 years ago.

Nah its a classic. For the simple fact that it's Jay's last album and he went out with a bang nh

Black album was supposed to be his last album, hence why he spazzed on that album too.

Niggas really don't like calling anything a classic these days beside Kdot albums it's crazy I mean who was the last person to drop a album deemed a classic beside him to y'all..... This album has had the impact and the quality to garner being a classic no need to fight it it's ok lol

Nigga is the only rapper to have a 5 mic album in 3 different decades

Sure, if you're very liberal with the mics I guess. IMO, his only 5 mic albums are RD and Blueprint. And I wouldn't even give Blueprint 5 mics. I just wouldn't argue with someone if they did.
