as for #10, i read that a poster on here say that Ross was asked on 106 and Park which artist he'd most like to work with and he said "Eminem". Guess he's going the #7 route.

If what that poster said was true, cause I haven't watched the show since Wayne and Baby decided to make it their personal makeout room.

Funny how fast people will switch up for Caucasoid approval...

But wait

Eminem had a few Lyrics about serial killing & hating his mother & rape

But most of his Song's are about growing up in poverty in the hood, being a father, relationship with his wife, family life, politics and drug addiction

So you gonna judge Micheal Jordan on the misses he made or gonna applaud him for all his slam dunks which were in the majority?

Don't judge a few Lyrics Em himself admitted countless times that were for entertainment value

Judge the majority of his catalouge

Its funny but this thread doesnt actually make that much sense, the rappers that do this shit on the list arent nessecarily making the big bucks....or selling that many records

1.) POP TUNE= Get you a nice radio-friendly pop-song with a pop artist so that blonde-haired teeny-bopper chicks can play you in their pink Ipods....Almost every mainstream rapper has one of these, even the good ones and not all of them have sold loads of records examples, Mims, J-Kwon, Jibbs etc

2.) Do something comedic or coonish= Put a wig and a dress on, kiss a guy or do some gay type shit. A sambo doing some buckdancing will work...shuck & jive. Again this depends on what you mean by comedic, as there are loads of rappers that use comedy in thier image, such as Kanye, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg

3.) Blue eyed Soul= Forget Trey Songz or Ne-Yo, go get Robin Thicke or Justin Timberlake. There are so many rappers who will do songs with white artists

4.) Rock collabo/Rock Swag= If Travis Barker isnt available just sample a guitar riff, if possible you can add a Rock inspired scene in your video. this rockstar shit was a fad that died with Rebirth, the Shop Boyz Era didnt last that long and I havent seen one of those type of tracks in years

5.) Get Emenim= It cant hurt to put the most popular rapper on the planet on your album, if D12 can go platinum its gauranteed you can sell some extra copies T.I. put eminem on T.I.vs T.I.P. and that didnt really boost that albums sales, The adventures of Bobby ray didnt go platinum, the Trick Trick albums havent goneANYTHING, Bizzares solo effort didnt go platinum and Obie trice's album didnt go platinum , nor did Xzibits album

6.) Big Beef= Find a fellow Black man and tear him down, black on black violence is very popular with the people who are not affected by it, study 50cent. ( name one relevant rapper that hasnt beefed with a black rapper)

7.) Political Correctness= Say all the right things, put Emenim in your top 5 and say that you would like to work with him, dont be too Black, too intelligent, or say anything negative about Emenim.
Memphis bleek said eminem was one of his fave I dont remember him selling 75 million worldwide...

8.)Techno-Euro= An example of this would be the JayZ song "Ghetto Techno",50-cents "Pass the Patron" video or some other hybird of genre's...anything except blues, gospel, jazz, or reggae. All those southern assholes have used elements from techno/euro to sell thier crappy dance records but I do agree with this

9.) Subject matter= relatable themes like serial-killing, prescription drug abuse, pedophilia/rape/incest/beastiality, matricide, homo-eroticism, and depression. Its funny you should mention this because eminem is the ONLY successful rapper who has made big money rapping about this, every other rapper has gotten big by talking about: Drug Dealing, GangBanging, Drinking , Cars Jewllery, 'The Hood', Partying , Or just excessive boasting. Hip Hop has never really been that versatile on the mainstream.

10.) Pander & Cater= Kiss white asses, smile, appear wigger-friendly, act like a good negro so that a kid from Montana could imagine you playing GTA with him or driving through the hood with him to get some Popeye's...this should be in the back of your mind at all times. Considering every successful rapper has a white fanbase, I think it would make sense that they would appear avaliable to white people, I dont understand what this is trying to prove.

Dont get me wrong I like this thread but it just isnt that logical..

I mean 2pac never did any of this shit but he is the 2nd highest selling rapper in the world.

This nigga H-Rap be having the best threads in the Reason. Hands down....
I guess I am an H-rap "Stan".
Thankyou...I do it for ya'll.....

Some people may ask "why not try to appeal to the biggest buying demographic", the answer is simple:

When you pander you dilute the culture
, it loses its potency, the very essence of what made HipHop music rebellious and refreashing
is replaced with elements to make it appeal to the exact opposite of what it stood for to begin with.

Corporate labels want to recoup their money, they know who buys and they know what sells, thats why
your favorite rapper has that corny pop-song on his album that you hate and skip over when you play his C.D.

A perfect example is "Distant Relatives", they wouldnt have released that record without Joss Stone & LiL Wayne on it.

Im not mad at a rapper for adding 1 or 2 of those ingredients if you have to eat, but when you have over 5
I cant take you serious and if you have almost 10 I wont even go near you.

Rozaaaaay must've read the list

If his last album is any indication he failed miserably...Raphael Saadiq & Chrisette Michelle???
He should have got Timberlake & Gaga

HRap what do you have to say about Ross wanting to work with Eminem?

I never heard him say he did, but I heard him say he wanted to work with Dr. Dre.

..as a military strategist I would advise Rozay to antagonize 50Cent in every way possible
whether its mentioning "Vivica Foxx" on "Tears of Joy" or saying he wants to work with 50's two closest associates...which will NEVER happen

I was saddened when Rozay callem Emenm a "Hunkee"...I prefer the full pronunciation of "Honkey".

Question for hrap....do you still listen to roooooozzzzzzaaaayyyy if he works with eminem?

If Rozay works with Emenim 50Cent will go postal in the Interscope offices and probably kill half the staff
so with that scenario in mind yes. Id also give praise to Emenim for doing something that mean to Curtis.

Dont get me wrong Im not saying these elements will make you Vanilla Ice, that extreme comparison is to show people the power of that certain demographic.

Of course you wont sell 50 million records but you increase your chances to do so, and anybody that says different has never studying marketing.

Keep in mind that the Insane Clown Possee have 3 Gold albums and a Platinum album
thats more than Rakim, Styles P. & Kool G Raps solo albums combined..now who do you think bought those records??

besides pop, simply because of its meaning, i don't know one genre that you can get its "true culture" from through its mainstream form.

if your goal is to sell records and have the biggest fanbase, you will try to appeal to the white crowd, since they are the majority of the population in america. why would you care about preserving the essence of the culture if you are trying to sell as many units as possible?

I would say R&B/Soul because of it's content. Maxwell has had some success, i think his last album went platinum, it wasn't really pop by our standards.

Yeah, what makes that case even more interesting is that he took almost 10 years off from making music and still came back with a platinum album.
