I always give 20% dunno why scamming waiters n waitresses is other people ideas. I have friends who were waiters tell me horror stories about people not tipping and cutting corners for free meals.

I tip well. To each his own though. I personally don't go out to eat if I'm strapped for cash which is why I think most people don't tip properly. Watching my pops and the oldheads round my way that had $$$, I learned to never put myself in the position to where I gotta be stingy/cheap.

I bet though, if they decided to do away with the whole tipping thing, raised entree prices, and paid servers regular hourly wage niggas would be complainningggggggg. not just about the costs but about the service since the quality of service wouldn't affect their take home pay anyway

Just a way the restaurants can save money by making patrons feel obligated to compensate their employees in addition to paying to eat there.

but when i get cleaned up for a fancy night out, jus dont see any sense in leaving 20%. bringing my plate and a couple refills just aint worth 20%

I am a server and I always tip 20%. Even if the service wasn't great because most of the time there is a reason why! It's not you server's fault the kitchen is slow with your food, or the bartender took forever to make you drinks. It's not their fault when they get sat six tables at the same time and everyone needs something right this instant. It's not their fault the person at the table next to you sent back their food and it's taking up all their time trying to get things fixed. People need to open their eyes and be aware of what's going on. No one is giving you poor service on purpose. This is how they make their living, of course they want make the service good!

Oh and just a heads up I am in school and will one day have an awesome job making good money. If serving is what I have to do in the meantime than so be it. I will always tip well though because I know all the bullshit servers put up with on a daily basis from inconsiderate and ignorant people.

If you can't afford to tip well, don't go out to eat!

Occasionally, I tip according to how attractive she is.

Friendly people get more money from me. Always.

There are people out here that think they can do the bare minimum and get more than 10%.
