Yeah, i can't respect the Wu-tang comparisons. It's not even close. Wu is WAY more skilled and carved out a piece of the industry for themselves almost by force. Like the labels had no choice but to sign them. And then they pioneered so many styles and had so much influence. The tags before verses and for crews, the labels, the logos, the clothing lines, the group collectives that function as a single unit, the kung fu snippets, the raw and shoddy recorded sound of 36 chambers, getting individual members of the group record deals with other labels, popularizing mafioso rap, bringing horrorcore to the forefront, the high-pitched looped sample as the focus of beats, etc. I'm probably forgetting a ton, but their influence will be felt forever.

20 years later and I can't think of another group whose members are still this prominent in the entertainment industry. They may have become more individual than collective, but they still have influence over pop culture and the respect of everyone. No one's every really wanted it with Wu. Not in rap, nor anywhere else.

Rae and Ghost still putting out solid-to-great albums, RZA doing soundtracks for major motion pictures + acting in some big movies over the past 5+ years and being the major influence over Kanye's current style, Method Man with his acting and putting out one of the best cult classic comedies of the past 20 years, GZA working with Neil DeGrasse Tyson for his next album...

Wu's still going strong 20 years later and stronger than Odd Future has ever been.
