Lil Wayne is dope. To deny it would be hating. Now he does alot of dumb shit and some wack songs, but you cant deny he is one of the best lyrically.

You ever hear Common's bragadocious raps? He can be borderline cocky. so is Mos Def, so is Talib. don't confuse consciousness for lack of arrogance in their rhyme skill

Personally, Tech 9 is my favorite musician. He has never been afraid to speak about his personal struggles in his raps (His divorce, drug problems, STD's) He took an indie label (Strange Music) and shot it to the top of the indie charts. Not only did he make himself sucessfull, but he also did it without dropping a bunch of videos for every album, and a ton of singles on the radio. Tech is a beast, anyone who thinks he is garbage must be a "Look at my chain, big ass rims, I use nothing but auto tune. " Its all just a matter of opinion though

Lilwayne is NOT dope he has a few hot punchlines, and the guys has no substance its all just a long 74 minuites of mostly filler and then the obligatory 'Im like...

guy aint dope he is corny as fuck with a few hot lines and some cool mixtapes, and what about? money girls and how much better he is than everyone else, and then a bit of ironic emo rap for good measure.

Eminem is Obnoxius and aggressive but he isnt 'cocky' he just doesnt care, he'll say a lot of shit that other guys wont touch with a 10 foot pole

but you never hear him say 'Im the greatest' or 'bow the king' in fact he takes quite a lot of pride in self analasys and exposing his weak points, being proud to be honest isnt really being cocky

All he raps about his conspiracy theories and he can't flow for shit. I would much rather listen to Mos Def than that one dimensional ass nigga. I dislike the anti Lil Wayne rhetoric. Pre-The Carter when Lil Wayne was with the hot boys, he was always dope lyrically. His problem was always his inconsistency. And even now, he is nice with it. You hear tracks when he is stricly spitting and not bullshitting around he murders shit. and he is pretty introspective at times, he just doesn't do it all the time.

but people who dnt like him arent nessecarily fans of wayne and gucci and that.

they usually are the type that think he is a little too random and over produced (nothing wrong with thinking that)

Niggas think lyrics is strictly what you rhyme. What about your flow, what about your delivery. IT has poor flow and sometimes poor delivery. He is so concerned with sounding smart, that he adds too much syllables in his bars and his shit comes off choppy

If anything stic man's verse was on par with ITs, at best. Jean Grae is ill, but Pumpkinhead can't touch IT. If it is strictly lyrics, IT has dead prez beat, not even close. But after reading that comment about you saying that IT has a poor delivery and flow, I can understand that, at times he does get "choppy", still dope nonetheless though.

in the full scope of things I judge lyricist on everything. One of the reasons I don't like Canibus that much.

has to do with actual rhymes, what your saying, your flow, your cadence, your delivery.

thats what lyrical entails. Ask anybody and they will tell you.

so IT might have some of the nicest lines or the dopest topics on a song, but if its not executed well and comes off smooth, its not as good.

I don't know if you ever rhymed in your life, but I use to rhyme and I say use too cuz I don't take it serious anymore.

an making a rhyme sound effortless and filled with emotion is not easy to do.

Thats why Eminem is considered one of the best, he says what he says and not only is it dope, but it flows well, its never off flow, and its delivered with passion. Immortal tecnique is hard on the ears sometimes

It seems like usually the people that don't like Tech, don't like other Midwest artists like Twista or Bone, either. Some people just don't like that fast rappin. But Tech seems to balance it out to where you don't get sick of the fast raps. He doesn't do it all the time. I think sometimes his flow overshadows his lyrics. Tech's underrated when it comes to bein a lyricist. His concepts are one of a kind.
