You know all those times you've wished you could see all of your favorite heroes from the DC Universe in one show? Well Young Justice is doing just that. At WonderCon today, they showed off a trailer for Season 2 that introduced new characters and revealed the theme of next season: invasion.
Just what kind of invasion? You guessed it: Aliens. Young Justice is headed to the stars and going on away missions. Producer Brandon Vietti said whereas they kept the first season grounded and realistic, the second season will have all kinds of crazy science fiction stuff. The team will leave the planet and go on a mission to Rann. And since aliens are a part of the DC universe, Greg Weisman pointed out that viewers will recognize at least nine of the invading aliens - and it was revealed that Lobo will be one of the villains.

Extraterrestrials aren't the only new kids on the block either. Season 1 featured 179 characters, and Season 2 is upping that total to 241. New members will join the team including Blue Beetle and Lagoon Boy. Weisman cautioned others will join as well but not everyone will make the cut. Favorites like Barbara Gordon, Garfield Logan, and Mal Duncan, will return and step into their superhero shoes – or as Weisman said, they "will develop into larger roles if you know what I mean."
The Justice League shows up in season two as well, but they have a problem and won't be able to help Young Justice out as much as they have in Season 1. Vietti stated that it will really force the team into the front line position of defending Earth from the invasion. They want the characters to rise into their own and become more like adults.
Since season one has yet to wrap up, no premiere date has been set for Season 2. Vietti and Weisman both assured fans that most of the hanging questions from Season 1 will be answered by the time the season ends. The last episode will also present a mystery that will lead nicely into Season 2. Weisman promised that Season 2 will be "intense."
