Depends on what kind of black people you're around. Contrary to popular belief, we don't all say n-word this, n-word that when we speak.

They're A LOT of black people who don't use the n-word and take offense to it. They don't want ANYONE saying the word around them, black or not.

Imagine how they would react if a non-black person said the n-word.

I've heard this but I find it hard to believe though... I don't know I know this filipino chick in SoCal and she tells me that she and her friends call eachother nigga ALL THE TIME even has called me nigga when I've talked to her, and I asked her if she got any black friends if she calls them nigga too, she said she didn't and she wouldn't dare to do that...

I guess it's more a fun thing to say like any new slangword...But I don't know I don't see it as a horrible thing, Justin Timberlake done said "Fo shizzle ma nizzle" translating to "for sure my nigga" nobody said nothing when he's done that, and others I think Will Ferrell or Ben Stiller did that too in some context...

It's just slang, sometimes streetslang gets thrown in to non-street-talk, BLING BLING is the perfect example Lil Wayne created the word in 1999 for a song on B.G.'s album a couple years later it spread so that people like Paris Hilton and everyone started using it...

Also words change meanings, gay used to mean happy then it turned into meaning homosexual then it turned into being both that but also lame...

A hot-button topic in hip-hop — and politics — this year has been usage of the N-word, specifically by white people. Where do you stand?

I don’t think white rappers or white people period should ever be saying that. The way I was raised, it was something we could never do. As far as being a white rapper, it’s partly my responsibility to check people when they’re out of line, because it affects us all. If I don’t say something about it then it might come across that I don’t care, which I do. I think it’s disrespectful and insensitive and really just lame.

while i dont disagree completely with that "slang-word" theory i still think its strange for you as a white guy from europe (as i am one by myself) to be so obsessed with that word and wether your allowed to use it or not. 'cause fact is: majority of black people dont want us to use the word (understandable). so why not just keep it movin?

and while you bring up the gay example: do you ever hear people using gay for expressing their happyness? hell no. if someone talking about "gay" then he means homosexuals. and if a white guy uses the n-word then the possibility that he does it just to holla at his black friends is very small.

I understand that, I'm not really obsessed though but yeah I find it interesting that's all how one word can hold so much power and I haven't really gotten any good responses until yesterday (on the Fat Joe-thread) as to why the n-word holds so much weight, but yeah I know I've been doing this thing a little too much I guess it's because whenever I say something people don't agree with on here they bring up my race or background like that has anything to do with what I've posted.

Same reason why I did all those gay-threads in the beginning because some posters where like "no homo" to everything, and I wanted to get to the bottom to why seemingly some people are so scared of gay people.

So yeah when I get something on my mind that I can't quite figure out I can go on and on about it, since race is so important to people here, but I think I'm pretty much done with both these things now.

Yall europeans dont get it and its clear to see from this thread. Now i am far form the GEE 757 radical mad at the white man i get goosebumps every time I see someone white. But at the same time white folks should not be using nigga. If you don't live in america you don't get it. Its still used as a word of power by white folks. White folks play games to see how much they can say nigga or nigger before they get "caught" by black folks. White folks try to see if they can get away with it just cause they "cool" with black folks over here.

People start loosing to my little brother on the ice and have said it to my brother over 5 times in the last 3 years. Racism is not over in america (and from people i know across the pond its worse in europe cause they won't let minorities get past entry level jobs). White folks always saying "well all black people be saying it so why cant we". False....while i do use the word talking with friends i am working on stop using it. Most of my family does not use the word nigga in their talk. I know people at my college that are black and they refuse to say it.

Its sad you give a race 1 word that is offensive and vulgar and tell them not to use it and they go crazy. Granted i think if there was a word like nigga/nigger to call white folks and black folks were on the reverse side they would abuse the power too. Still its 1 word you shouldn't say but then white kids getting orgasms off saying the word and many times even if they were to say it in a song or to another black folk that seems just calm there are still subliminal under tones to many white folks to say it and think its funny to get away with saying it in front of white folks.
