Yes selling cars for 10+ years although I'm straight salary now

I've been only commission before and its about your mindset.

You thinking what if i don't bag clients when you should be thinking

I'm definitely gone bag some clients.

You gotta find some people familiar with the company and get second opinions

on that company or google the company. if they are a reputable company with a

few years under their belt you'll find something out about the company

ask if 35k is the base salary, aside from the commission.
ask what's unique about their approach to client networks and project and program management
ask based on the above, their feelings about compensating for further training after you've proved yourself in that type of role (i.e., CISSP certification)

In short, know what you are getting into, where you can be headed with this, and don't fall for the bullshit.

So yall know i just graduated and today I got a job offer from a company today saying their an IT company that goes into other businesses and improves their business plan and they want me to come work for them. I reviewed their website and shit looked kinda legit but dude was telling asking me about what kinda salary i was expecting i said bout 35,000/yr and dude said its also commission based where if i dont bag clients i wont make commission.....from then on i been kinda skeptical. Any of yall ever been through this?

Commission only gigs have the highest earning potential, given the company is legit and you're good at it. Again, assuming the company is legit, it's not like you go two weeks without putting anything on the board so therefore you get a check for zero. By law, they still have to pay you min. wage for the time you're working.

However, some places get around that by making you an independent contractor--like these work from home hustles. Or Aflac or whatever.

Check it out though.

Had one when I was like 18. It was set up where it was either commission, or minimum wage, whichever was higher. If you didn't make more in sales than what the per hour worked out to, two weeks in a row, you were gone.

Sales jobs are tough, you gotta be on all the time and you gotta know how to take a L with a smile on your face. It's tough, a lot of ups and downs. It's awesome when you're selling though.

commission do not always require selling. u got jobs that guarantee clients and u get a proportion of what they get from the clients. In these jobs your guaranteed a paycheck because the company got a large number of clients that use their service daily. All you got to do is be a liaison between them and the clients & can make a profit.. I got a deal like this, and it average out to 50.00 a hour. I don't have to work all day. plus I am a real estate liaison. I don't even have to touch the product to make money off it. I learned how to do that from the streets. I use my street smarts for legal hustles.

its not selling per se its getting clients to sign up for our services

Still technically sounds like selling, seems like whoever you spoke to just found a good way to not use the word "sales" (that word tends to scare away potential employees)

The problem with alot of commission-based gigs are the high turnover rates. Will it be worth your time? Or would you be better off looking for something else.

Here are a few things that may tip you off as to whether or not this job is a good investment:

-- How soon after you applied was the interview? (if you applied monday and went in tuesday, no good)

-- Did it feel like they were "selling you" the job? (trying to convince you why you should work there...usually its the other way around)

-- Was the person that interviewed you really young?

The fact that you're commission based, yet say "i'm not selling anything, just having people sign up for services" is a huge red flag to me.

u got the right type of gig you can land a doctors or lawyer salary. This is my temporary solution, not planning on doing it for a lifetime. But it's easy money, and soon some people will be working for me

One of the craziest, funnest jobs i had was commision-based

Call center for AT&T...in DC...you had dudes from around the way, 18-22 yrs old, makin 75k...all in the same office w/ white collar, career type dudes makin 100k+

But that was different. Most commision based jobs you gon even out somewhere slightly above the salary, depending on the product you sellin...
