Oh yeah and even if they did interbreed 30,000 years ago every single human on the face of the earth would have neandarthal as a grand-parent. If you estimate that humans reproduce every 20 years that means 1500 generations have passed in the last 30,000 years. Since each member of one generation has 2 parent in the prior generation that means that a member in this generation will have 2^nth potential grand-parent in an nth generation. So 1500 generations ago we each had 2^1500 potential grand-parents. Since the pool of possible candidate numbers in the 100s of millions it is mathmathically impossible not to have a link to EVERY member in the pool. The same is true at 300,000 years.
