^^^^ Re-read...Post again...

i got what you meant, but "A nigga from NY most likely wouldn't relate to what a southern dude mean when they talk bout cars" is funny to me. im not from there but i go there often. of course i would take the train to get around, but my family and friends there got cars and they use them to get around. cars arent scarce up here

When I went to Morehouse...I met 4 NY dudes who ain't een have liscenses yet, cause they never had a reason to get a car...They told me that's the usual scenario for people who live in the city...So goin off that and what i see on tv as a representation of NYC, andwhat I hear from other people who come from cities with ample public tran...It seems obvious to me why a nigga from a city like NY wouldn't quite understand the car culture of a rural southern nigga...We(for the most part) live in these shits...And we(for the most part) have a certain sound that we like to ride to...

Young Jeezy's Lose My Mind and Ross's I'm Not a Star sound Fire in my headphones... *Shrugs* but i get it Didnt appreciate Big Krit's Return of 4eva until i played it in my Car.

When I hear headphone music I think of stuff like Flying Lotus, Fat John, Nujabes, Swing Out Sister.

If that's the mood im in that's what ima jam. I dont give a flying 747 flap whether its played in the whip or the club. I done came down bumpin Chrono Trigger in the whip, knocking pictures off the wall plenty times. I got a system in my whip too.

Many people in Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island have cars

3 typical club type chicks in the whip I'm Still bumpin Samurai Champloo sound track. Yall riding in MY whip. Recognize O.G. Like a king need approval for that, plz.

It's music or a song/songs that you prefer to listen more to the lyrics than the beat, melody or anything other than the lyrics...a song where the story or word play is most important.

I think thats herb dialect, because if I got a song i like, i enjoy hearing it equally as much on my headphones as i do in my car...

Pretty sure its just for people who listen to shitty music that they would be ashamed to bump out loud.

Like any clown rap, most white boy rap, most experimental music, conspiracy rappers etc...

Nah that's not true because there's certain songs I love, but I always skip them if they come on my ipod when I'm driving simply because when I'm driving I like listening to certain kinds of muisc. More upbeat/uptempo music

Headphone music is for the loners that count Joe Buddens multi's while riding a Subway train and spend their lonely Saturday nights blogging on AHH about how awesome the new Killah Preist mix tape is due to his alliteration, assonance and

super-linguistically superior rhyme-schemes,

The term "headphone music" is a geek-teaser, an invented phrase used on blogs to torture every Canibus groupie or NYr in a wheel-chair who says "Dude I frigging hate Wacka & Jeezy, you ATL fucktards dont have lyrics dude".

The weirdo who pulls up at the 7-11 bumping an acapella version of MF Doom rapping about French-Toast need to keep that shit in his headphones before the sharks smell blood in the water and rob him for every dollar in his leather G-Unit wallet.

so a song like "I Gave You Power" would be headphone music?

because you won't necessarily play that in the club, or at a birthday party or cruising down the street.

I've never understood the point of releasing an acapella version of an album. Unless your'e a dj, the shit is pointless...who the hell is riding around listening to rap w/o the music? You want that, go see a spoken word artists because it's literally the same thing
