I think when people try to down south music or the music we drive in cars with systems here, listen to in clubs, and when we're partyin/enjoyin ourselves, Theres certain people who seem not to understand it.

These type tend to walk, up north(specifically Ny) not drive, and listen to eastcoast music. Its basically old style eastcoast music.

I thought it was music you wouldn't necessarily bump in the whip, kinda like more thought provoking lyrics or conscious rap..

But now I hear more ppl referring to it as music that has dope beats and production that needs to be listened to with either a good system or good headphones to appreciate it more..

IMO, its music you enjoy personally on your own time. Sometimes "headphone music" is not that preferable in the whip, or at the club or parties. A classic 'headphone music' example to me is It Was Written. I can sit around an enjoy all of the lyrics and stories like at work or some shit, but i wouldn't ride around banging it in my car or expect to hear "The Set Up" at the club. Headphone Music, if you ask me, can also be termed as Personal Favs, that wouldn't really appeal if your around friends and shit like that.

I think its more of a culture thing. I drive but sometimes I be on Marta. the only thing I dont like is when somebody's headphones be so loud the whole bus or train can hear it. Or when they rap out loud what theyre hearing. Other than that, I dont care what somebody is listening to in their headphones.

@Jamaica I would consider headphone music, music that you want to hear the lyrics to NAS, Jay-Z, Jay Electronica, Kendrick Lamar and Ab-Soul. Car music is the likes of Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane ETC... when lyrics are not as important.

I play anything in my car. I don't separate my music. I don't say "well these songs I'm gonna play in my headphones, and these over here is for the car" I play what I like whether it's in the car or headphones.
