Even on Glory, the beat is self is cool but it sounds underproduced. I can't describe it, something is off about their beats to me. I think it's because they don't sample at all, like to me Glory would of sounded better with a soul vocal sample instead of Pharrel singing.

i still fuck wit the neptunes. They have toned it down, but that was a smart move because they were starting to get played out. "Trouble On My Mind" doesnt sound like "Give It To Me". If Lil Jon did the same thing he might still be a highly requested procucer.

And u guys prob dnt know they produced damn near all of Gloria estevans album (shit other hip hop producers dnt have the versatility to do)

the neptunes have really just been pharrell since 2005 or so. i agree at times his beats does sound like its missing something but pharrell can still produce some heat

Chad supposedly quit a while back, but I guess he returned since The Neptunes have been credited as producers on some songs again.

I remember Pharrell talking about how Chad would usually do the drums and then he would add to it. So without Chad he's left to fill in the rest or something like that.

pharrel by himself don't make as great beats as when chad is involved... chad's responsible for the synths and shit, and is better than pharrell at that particular part pf the Neptunes sound imo

Hate to say it but co-sign. When the N.E.R.D. albums drop, the magic is there. They both need each other. If I was rapping, I damn sure would make sure Chad is involved in making the beat as well as Pharrell.

Pharrell's solo album in 06 would had been on point if Chad had been involved in it.

Quiet as kept, that Pharrell album had some heat rocks. It's just that Pharrell's lyrical ability strained over an entire album.

You guys are talking about The Neptunes? They are not really having anything put out. Pharell is making beats by himself. Chad got married, and kind of disappeared.
