Here's the problem with some of you people. You're arguing against a statement nobody ever made. No one said Aaliyah was the greatest singer or dancer or songwriter or performer or actress. But you know what she was? Damn good at it.


That's what she had over most female singers that emerged after her death. Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Jhene Aiko, Cassie, Brooke Valentine, etc. have never reached the point that Aaliyah has. Out of all of the girls to come and go from Destiny's Child, Beyonce is the only one that you CAN compare to Aaliyah talent or career wise.

Blooming acting career? Check

Legitimate mainstream appeal? Check

The only conceivable way Aaliyah would have fallen off would have been due to being linked to closely to people like R. Kelly, Dame Dash, and DMX cause let's face it, those guys fucked up their own momentum.
