Would you be a cop?

For this proposed fantasy world of "major changes" sure. In wouldn't work otherwise. I've a very grey interpretation of the law. I'd even ignore it completely in the name justice. I ain't running around with my life on the line for some shit i don't even believe in.

And id need some shit in writing. You can't even break up a fight without getting arrested, shot by real police, or sued your damn self these days. Theyve got shit set up where you need permission to get justice. And justice has nothing to do with the law.

Noap, Not joining forces with a known corrupt organization.

every multimillion dollar company has some type of corruption..

Not like the police and known like the police.

known or not known its still corrupt...

But like I said. I will not be joining forces with a KNOWN(meaning I know as well as everyone else) corrupt organization. Especially one that participates in rape, murder, etc.

why not though... I pose this question for every person in here that say "all cops are bad" why not join and put effort in to change it then... you can control your efforts... you consider yourself "good" why not change the dynamic of your areas perception of police?

They know their organization is dirty and won't change. They know about the "no snitch" policy, etc that these officers follow. You act like these police don't know who the dirty, lowdown cops are. They know and don't do shit about it. I can want all the change in the world, but shit won't change until they want to change their organization.

This is an interesting thread. I majored in Criminal Justice and there is a concept called "Community Policing". Basically during the civil rights movement Black leaders protested that the criminal justice system was run by whites and that was unjust and unfair. Their perspective made perfect sense so an era of community policing began.

The purpose of community policing is to have the criminal justice system run by people within the community. From neighborhood watch programs to the actual cop walking the beat the idea of community policing was that the community would have more say in the organization and execution of police tactics.

The problem is that Black people/African Americans have a very cynical, distrustful opinion of the police, especially Black males. So Black males weren't applying for jobs in policing. Black boys, generally, don't admire police officers. Black boys don't grow up wanting to be police officers.

The Community Policing era started in the early 70s. It was supposed to be a nationwide reform of the way urban areas were policed. But its been a dismal failure; the drugs have gotten worse, the dropout rate in the inner city has skyrocketed therefore making members of the Black community ineligible to be police officers (or anything else).

Back in the 60s and 70s our Black leaders had the perfect solution; more involvement in the way our communities are policed. But the youth fucked everything up. They drop out of school to be drug dealers and end up in jail. And there's really nobody to blame but ourselves.

In theory you could get a degree in criminal justice and get a job as a police officer. Then, you could go to law school from there and be a lawyer. But for some reason our Black youth want to drop out of school and be drug dealers, or rappers.

This is cool but my answer would still be no

I ain't no policing ass nigga. Never have been. I'd support a new CJS but I'd never join it.

Honestly, the main thing that keeps me from being a cop is that I smoke weed.

First of all, they ask you about drug usage in the interview

Second of all, you have to pass a drug test

Third of all, I'd be pulling people over and when their car smelled like weed it would be my duty to arrest them.

Fourth of all, I couldn't raid a weed dealer's home. I'd feel like a hypocrite.

Truth be told I dabble with powder every once in a while but I would have no problem arresting crack dealers and heroin dealers, or crystal meth labs. I don't have a problem arresting people that manufacture or distribute hard drugs, but marijuana's not the same. I mean, it can ruin your life if you smoke every day, but its nowhere near as bad as crack, heroin or meth.
