A 28-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to breaking into a man’s Seattle apartment and raping him in his sleep will serve nine months in jail, The Smoking Gun reported, citing court records.

Chantae Gilman admitted to the crime in a plea deal with prosecutors to downgrade the charges from rape to attempted rape and assault, court documents revealed. Her sentencing is scheduled for June 19.

In June 2013, the victim told police he woke up to find the then 26-year-old Gilman, who weighs 240 pounds, on top of him, pinning his hands above his head. When he told her to get off of him and leave, she refused and told him to be quiet as she continued to have sex with him, the police reported stated.

“From a statistical standpoint, yes, it is atypical to have a female aggressor,” Seattle Police Detective Drew Fowler told KOMO News in September. “But we work to hold all people responsible for their actions. The law is specifically written to be gender-equitable and we will charge anybody with a crime that they’re committed.”

The victim said that he did not know Gilman but recognized her as an acquaintance of a neighbor. At the time, Gilman told police she did not recall the incident and that she suffers from bipolar disorder.

In addition to jail time, Gilman will be required to serve two years probation and register as a sex offender. She is also forbidden from contacting the victim, and prosecutors will recommend that she be ordered to stay away from alcohol and nonprescribed medications.

Gilman was pregnant with her third child when the crime occurred, The Smoking Gun reported, and has had two more children since. She has a criminal history that dates back 15 years, including charges of attempted robbery, attempted forgery, theft and possession of a stolen vehicle.
