Gangbusters is my SHIT. I thought original breakbeat making was common in hip hop during that era. Spoonie G (Love Rap), Funky 4+1 (That's The Joint), Treacherous Three (Heartbeat) and them were original breaks (though the latter two were covers, and you can legally do covers if the paperwork is right).
