To some, this music is the artform first, then the business- the Nases, the Commons, Mos Defs. This is what I subscribe to.

To others, its the other way around- the Puffys, Jays etc.

The greats are usually able to balance both on some level- Nas, Cube, Jay, common etc

Nas is prolly the greatest rap artist we may ever see but not exactly businessminded though he got money, if he were it prolly affect his artistry.
