DOA was one of the biggest publicity stunts in rap history. Jay Z couldnt get a buzz for BP3 so he had to attack a changing hip hop audience to get some attention. BP3 was supposed to drop in spring 08. lets not play dumb here. this is when he was all in timbo mix hollerin he producing the whole album. Jockin Jay Z was first single from BP3 but that shit flopped. Brooklyn We Go Hard flopped. 08 was Wayne year aint nobody was about to outsell or railroad him. Jay Z even succumbed to a guest apperance c3 which had autotune. Jay Z admitted that he was going to use autotune on BP3 but it sounded awkward when he used it on Put On Remix. Dont forget Kanye released a autotune album on Rocafella so Jay Z had to sign off on that too. Fuck DOA. You same jigga warriors who put him on your top 5 and other bullshit. you niggas were the targets of doa. it wasnt autotune. it was a temper tantrum, frustration mixed with a camel hoof scoop of fear. he is like the senile old man timid in a fast paced enviroment. hip hop was changing too fast for this old ass nigga. snap, hyphy, autotune, trap, emo were the fast blowing subgenres in hip hop at that time. new acts would crawl nonstop out the wood like termites on a minute by minute basis. the internet, cellphones, social media were the force behind the subgenres rise. marketing and image gave those who invested in them a edge in hip hop. this was all to fast for a 45 year old man who was just starting his company from the ground up. Jay Z possessed none of these skills so therefore he just attacked the youth like a bitter ass old man. he dissed you 90s crackbabies. i dont fuck with skinny jeans but if thats your flavor tell that old ass nigga to go fuck his wife. young niggas like to be sporty and stylish. loud colors whatever its just yall little niggas having fun. nigga hated on yall. nigga dissed yall movement on some sucker shit. but like a dumb ass jiggaboo you dudes forgave him and called him genius for doing this. Jay Z played yall niggas. drake used autotune on off that. autotune was used on to the next, so ambitious and hate. fast foward 2 years in the future jay z has freshly wrinkled dennis the menace tees, baggy jeans, the TIMBERLANDS he said he was off and a snapback like tyga and big sean. why is it so hard for some niggas to see through the bullshit?

To Jay's credit, he used autotune on "On To The Next" to make a point when he said something like "Don't need no autotune cause we onnn". He had the vocoder/autotune added to only one line on BP3 just to be clever.

And like someone else said, Jay Z probably wasn't behind autotune being used on WTT
