I think we are lucky to have people with balls enough to fight these battles for our country. Think about what your life would be like if they didn't.

you often hear in the news US saying al qaeda and various others are cowards who would rather use sneak techniques to attack us troops than fight them ..but explain to me how fighting an army with the best protection, best weapons..best everything one on one is a fair fight??

the u.s has ways to kill you without you even seeing where the death game from..etc etc...if anytihng the us is the cowards by hding behind their powerful military..how exactly are you supposed to fight an army like that fair game when they aint even playing fair?

i guarantee if you give the u.s soldiers AK47 and gave the otherside the SAME weapon..the U.S wouldnt come CLOSE to winning anything...i take someone with a unified belief especially one based on religion over some kid who's in the military to pay for school anyday..

one is willing to die the other is shaking in their boots NOT to die..resolve is the key.

you got 30 u.s troops killed by one guy with an RPG and everyone is "whoa is me"...gtfoh..guess even wit their technology they didnt see it coming huh?

i have all the respect for any of these guys standing up to the u.S army..

NOw i dont want them anywhere close to me but i still respect their resolve..i dont think they're cowards at all.

because you can ask this question

and live with your life.

Well, I'm in the military, and so is my wife... thing is, we can't really care what people "think" about what we do - especially on a forum. The fact that you can say whatever idiotic shit you want is testament enough to what we do. As for all that other, I wonder if sometimes people don't have more a problem with politics and the actual decision-makers than the ones actually serving. Wouldn't surprise me - just more people spouting off about things they know nothing about.

I wonder if I should respect any of these people that are/were OF AGE, who didn't vote, and allowed some of these policy-makers that are signing off on some of this shit to get elected to their current office. Hmmm...

My thoughts EXACTLY!!!! I felt all he was trying to do was get clarification. Some people really don't know Al-qada's and or the Taliban's manifesto.

I was always taught if you don't know the answer just ask! That's all he did was ask!

I don't know whether I think al queda are cowards or not, but where is your sense of patriotism. If we lose our own people, that's a problem, we are Americans, losing American lives! And let's think back to 9/11 for a moment...was it not cowardly to fly a bunch of airplanes into buildings killing a bunch of innocent civilians?

like I said,

the fact we can even have a convo of this nature, and yet still be able to walk away with our lives, and heads attached

should give you all reasons you need to respect out Armed Forces.

You really think Islamic Extremists will tolerant ANY one in their regime to dare ask such a question???

You have a young fella walking toward you and your family with 20pounds of TNT striped to his body ready to send you to a paradise dimension

One man's patriot is another man's terrorist depends what side your on. I love my country even though it doesn't love me or you I have pride in where I live. I understand the al qadeda an the reason why they fight cause if you come here trying to change things I would use any means any bomb any trick to kill you and yours.

That including sending suicide bombers into elementary schools and shopping markets?

Damn Mos def embarrassed himself in that video, I've seen that before and every time it makes me cringe.

Is this thread question, I guess it depends on if we're talking about respecting their ideology/worldview or respecting their adherence, or lack thereof, to the "rules of war."

If we're talking ideology, I'm rolling with the US military in a heartbeat, even tho I'm not crazy about military culture or militarism in general terms. But I'm anti religion and especially anti-fundamentalism, and I like watching porn and listening to music, so I ain't trying to live under al qaeda's rule.

If we're talking battlefield conduct, imo it is a wash, both kill civilians and hit nonmilitary targets, I never liked the "intent" argument because it is disingenuous and at the end of the day a dead person is a dead person is a dead person. I will say, al qaeda is on some cut your fingers, hands, and head off shit, which is a little midevil for my liking,

He was like, "what's Al Qaeda's objective" and then ignorantly conflated the Taliban w/ Al Qaeda. Then when Hitchens and SALMAN FUCKING RUSHDIE politely tried to explain that A.Q's basically about ummmmmmmmmm mass murder, he tried to no-sell that shit and say he ain't believe the translations of the dozens of videos Osama did lol. Hitchens lives for beef like 50 Cent, so he ain't gonna let that shit slide. What's worse, the previous time he was on Real Time, Mos basically co-signed that Loose Change bullshit and not only did Maher give him a pass (!!!), Super Intellectual Negro Man (HARVARD!) Cornell West did too.

Teachers like to say there's no dumb questions but we all know that shit is a lie lol.

If your family, friends and home is being taking over by a superior force and you have no real means of harming them or tatically stoppong them straight up what would you do?

How can ANYONE find this "respectable":

Iraq bomb blasts across 13 cities leave dozens dead

Synchronised explosions in mostly Shia Muslim areas kill at least 74 and injure 250

A series of co-ordinated explosions have killed at least 74 people and wounded 250 more across Iraq, shattering calm during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and showing that extremists remain a threat more than eight years after the fall of Baghdad.

The bombs were detonated in largely Shia Muslim areas of the country. Casualties were mostly Shia-led security forces. A Sunni extremist group, the al-Qaida-affiliated Islamic State of Iraq, was blamed.

A jihadist site praised the attacks and said they targeted "Shi'ites, Christians and the apostate awakening councils", in reference to the US-backed Sunni groups who turned on al-Qaida in 2007.

In total, 13 bombs exploded. Many were apparently detonated by suicide bombers. If so, this would further undermine Iraqi and US military claims that al-Qaida and its Iraqi jihadist groups are a spent force after almost a decade of war.

The deadliest blast was in the south-eastern city of Kut, where 37 people were killed by a roadside bomb and then a car bomb, which detonated as bystanders gathered following the first explosion.

In the Shia shrine cities of Kerbala and Najaf up to 11 security officers and members of the public were killed by car bombs. Bombs rocked Baquba, Tikrit and Kirkuk and there were at least six explosions in Baghdad, although only three people were killed in the capital.

The ease with which car bombs were moved around Iraq is a further blow to the standing of Iraq's security forces, who insist they have contained sectarian violence and have Sunni and Shia extremist groups under control.

Iraq: Bombs in Tikrit target mosque and hospital

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-13644190

At least 21 people have died in twin bomb attacks in the northern Iraqi city of Tikrit.

In the first attack, a bomb exploded outside a mosque during Friday prayers, killing 16 people.

Hours later, a suicide bomber attacked the hospital where the injured were taken, killing another five.

Scores more were wounded. On Thursday, bombings in Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, killed at least six people.

'Canister' bomb

The first blast in Tikrit happened at about 1245 local time (0945 GMT) on Friday, officials said. Some reports suggest the bomb was hidden inside a fuel canister at the entrance to the mosque.

Doctors said more than 50 people were wounded, including at least one member of the Salaheddin provincial council.

A suicide bomber later walked into the emergency room at the hospital and blew himself up near where family members had gathered, according to Mohammad al-Asi, spokesman for the Salahuddin provincial governor.

Five people were killed and 16 injured, a hospital official said.

Tikrit - about 130km (80 miles) north of Baghdad - is the home town of deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, executed in 2006.

Many of his relatives and former associates live there.

Although no group has said it carried out the attacks, suspected Sunni Islamists carry out frequent attacks in Tikrit and Salahuddin province, trying to stir up sectarian tension.

TAKE NOTE:

Neither article, mention ANY thing about US Forces being targeted or killed

WHY?

There were none being target.

(yes this was in 2011 June and Aug. to be exact)

Al-Qaeda is a scumbag organization, no question.......but the Middle East hates America almost as equally. To many people there, American forces and Al-Qaeda are just two sides on the same coin. It's time we get the fuck outta there, let them kill each other as much as they want to. I think America has stolen enough resources from there already.

You shouldnt. Al queda is some terrorist syndicate created by the US/British govt to expand their empirical power. Its bullshit. If you have a hint of a independent mind, you can see it.

i think we all know the problem is people mistakenly assuming that Mos Def is smart because he's a talented musician. everyone SHOULD remember that musicians are idiots.

Its called propaganda bro.

Nobody is forcing you to respect anybody over anybody.

And nobody REALLY thinks they're cowards. As I said, its just propaganda for the stupid people aka American public.
