It's not exactly a bass voice thing, these new niggas just ain't funky enough no more. I ain't a vocal coach, but there is definitely something off about the majority of R&B artist today. A perfect example of a high pitched voice keeping it groovy.

Now compare this to anything R&B put on the radio in the last 3 years, excluding Prince. Ever since the late 90's these dudes ain't been bout it.

People stopped going to church

most male r&b singers these days sound like adolescent teenage boys. We need to bring that jodeci and dino from htown type sound back. just because your singing doesn't mean you don't have to sound like a grown man.

but my thing is you can sing in a higher octave and still be a man about it there was singers back in the day that sung in high notes but it was still more soulful ie earth wind and fire. its just these rnb "singers" (if you can call them that) are too effiminate. lack of a father in their household coming up i assume

The so called Rnb singers of today are soft as fuck and you gotta blame immature females today for wanting to hear them soft ass niggas on tracks and shit

you gotta him them with the 90's old school shit. you cant seriously sex a female to track where niggas sound like the haven't yet reached puberty.

yes that is true.you had guys like Tevin Campbell who could notes higher than a female but had a million times more soul than cats have now a days. I think another problem is that r&b singers insist on using beats that are more suitable for rap tracks. Their flow is so incoherent and off beat. I find myself having hard time just trying to listen because its so awfu and cheesyl. And they seem to lack an overall passion for music which makes their shit less genuine.

they are not basses.. they are tenors and your voice is your voice.

and it's not about how they sing for the most part.. It's how they look. that's what the industry pushes. the people you folks are mentioning is grown folk music. how you compare that to teeny bopper shit that is marketed to 12yr olds

R&B has fallen the fuck off just like Hip Hop...

niggas is more concerned with being rich, then they are with how they sound.

Nothing from the past 6 years really deserves recognition, and thus far, no one is award worthy.

Just a bunch of fucking fakes going thru the motions, pissing in folk face and telling them it's raining.

...............

i cant stand that shit today

just al green by hisself is killing all of todays shit

aint no emotion in shit today

Come on now.

It's still some R&B cats that make good soulful music that don't all sound like Lloyd. They just don't push em on the radio like that.

Tank

Jahiem

Tyrese

etc

you don't have to go way old school, but the dudes that get pushed on the radio are young and need to sound young to sell in order to sell to young people. Grown folks don't need the radio and BET to tell us what to listen to.
