Everybody in the hood back then grew up on Shaw Bros. movies and comic books. Even my generation who was younger (1983 baby) and that was their whole style so it was easy. "Kicking rhymes like Jim Kelly" for instance you don't get that shit unless you remember old blaxploitation kung fu joints like Blackbelt Jones which we always used to watch in the saturday afternoon movie and vhs tape days.

The everyman blue collar type, the drug dealer, the dude who just lounges on the stoop and at home. We all grew up smoking blunts, reading comic books, watching sports and kung fu flicks, piping ho's etc.
