It's not a big deal for men, but women put a lot of emphasis on v-day. So the men who actually have girlfriends or wives, buy into all of the valentines day bullshit because we're hoping we can get some pussy after we bought the roses, candy, and dropped some serious change on the dinner and drinks that night.

The purpose is to show the one you love or care for the extent of your feelings. Personally, it shouldn't matter what the day, it should be shown and reciprocated on a regular basis. But for real for real, its for the ladies. Some need to "see" it, if only for one day, to validate their worth.
