Now assuming she did, imagine from her perspective how many little niggas she saw would start coming to school one day with a pager, then a few weeks later pulling up in a caddy, then a few weeks later stop coming to school altogether.....then a few weeks later are featured on the top story that night for being a murder victim/murderer.

From her POV, I imagine that she'd be against you owning that stuff because back then thats what it was associated with (now telecomm. devices are ubiquitous but I digress)....and she'd probably seen too many dudes go down a familiar path because "looking the part" is how it starts.

Bruh, i've never really lived anywhere with a bad gang problem, but my parents would have had every right to raise their eyebrows if all a sudden I was demanding blue bandannas and LA dodgers fitteds for my birthdays. No matter how good a kid or how smart I was, they would have a right to be suspect because its happened to too many dudes like me before and "looking the part" is again how it all starts.

she had that outlook cause she was in the streets in that era..

but her commin up in the early 80s aint got nothin to do wit me growin up in the late 90s..
