Its mostly just NY. Dont blame the whole East Coast for New Yorkers arrogance and undeserved sense of entitlement.

lol NYC > your state plus its neighbors.

The people that I have met from the east are some of the sharpest individuals I have ever encountered.

The peeps I know from New York view HipHop as a culture and not just "rap-music" that can serve as a conduit for you to wash drug-money or a get-rich-quick scheme.

If I loved HipHop as much as NY does Id be protective of her too, they are not responsible for Vanilla Ice, Porn-rap, or banger-rap.

NY didnt pioneer horrorcore.

Michael Jordan has earned the right to criticize Lebron James and Spike Lee has earned the right to criticize Tyler Perry....NY gave birth to a culture and the whole world is disrespecting it and raping it and they have earned the right to be critical.

Exactly Hrap, this is what I was saying. NYC birthed it, they are going to be way more cirtical than anyone else. Hip Hop is worldwide right now but it started in the boroughs of NYC.

I'm sorry but why do I need you?? Are you even employed to any of the financial institutions based in NY?? You just a part time rapper who thinks she's special because she lives in a major city that she contributes almost nothing to the greatness of. You just another nigga late paying her rent, you don't own anything up there so what makes YOU so special?

aww boo hoo another southerner mad that NY owns everything he has ever purchased or needed.

Funny how Rick Ross is the South's savior now. Considering that NY had the fat black nigga already. One who actually rap, that is...Who Ross manager again??

I believe his manager is Sean Combs, you know the guy that USED TO care about NY hip-hop until it stopped making him money.

this is something I've been asking 4 a while. i know ALOT of east coast niggas, and it's like they wanna be stingy with hip-hop, like they wanted it 2 stay how it was forever. like they want every person hip-hop produces to sound just like everybody else up there. it that was the case, how diverse would hip-hop be with everybody's shit resembling each others? it's not like it's toward other niggas from the areas where they from, the hate is primarily generated towards the south. when the south or the west start gettin' hot, then yaa niggas wanna hate & say shit like, "man that shit is garbage or man dont nobody wanna hear that shit." smhh, everybody dont wanna listen 2 the shit yaa rap about all the damn time. dont get me wrong i like 2 listen to some new york, philly, & jersey rappers but damn, niggas like 2 switch that shit up every now & then. how the hell can you call a nigga music garbage because he speakin' his mind & tellin' his life story just because it got different lyrics, and a different sound from where you're from??? that shit is crazy. notice how u never see ANYBODY in the south shit on upnorth ANYWHERE. niggas from down here show yaa love, dont diss yaa, say yaa music is corny, or none of that bullshit. but you always hear about niggas from upnorth shit on people down here any chance they get...... dont seem odd??

i dont give a fuck what people say, im just keepin' shit 100

Damn..powerful post. That's the problem right there in the bolded. Everybody doesn't view it as a CULTURE.

Exactly, And they laugh at us for our "Central Park Cyphers" like that competitiveness of going up against the next man and/or sharpening your skills amongst a handful of MC's is something to be embarrassed of just because they neglect that element of Hip-Hop where they from. They respect it when MTV airs it on the award shows tho. I don't get some of these niggas man. I really don't.

Too bad NY Rap and Hip-Hop pretty much died and lost respect after they lost biggie, big l and especially big pun, pun was respected by not only NY Rappers, but the entire U.S. Rap as a whole.

Big's death was a nucular bomb to the Eastcoast. Lucily, Jay, DMX and NaS was right there to pick up the pieces. Pun had a nice 1 album run. The Lox came up. Then Dipset and 50 Cent and Gunit. Not to mention Big himself as his cut and paste album continued to sell after his death. Big's Crew, Lil Kim had a run herself. Bad Boy still had some platinum albums after Big died. Ja Rule and Irv came up. The Eastcoast Dynasty is one of the biggest in Rap History.

I'm born and raised in the South and my niggas stay forming cyphers because we know what it's about...it shouldn't matter if it's an East Coast thing...REGARDLESS where you from, if you're serious about THE CULTURE it's a credible element.
