You all can say what you want but NYC is the Mecca of Hip Hop. We are the Africa of Hip Hop, it's birthplace. It comes from here, it's bloodline begins here. Yes it expanded all over the country and eventually the world, but NYC will forever be hip Hop's birthplace. Now yes in NYC we are very critical of other Hip Hop regions. That's no secret, but for the most part, if it's hot, NYC will embraced it. New Yorkers like N.W.A. and Dr. Dre and Snoop. As for the South, New Yorkers just felt there weren't many lyricist down there with the exception of Face and Kast.

So NY was very critical of the south, espeically in the last 5 years when the South took over mostly. But again, I'm not saying it's right for NYC to be overly critrical, but again it's the birthplace. NY has some say in the overall aspect of Hip Hop in the world and NY"s opinion is important. NYC has produced the greatest rappers ever for 1 region. The Top 10 NYC Rappers are mostly likely ranked higher than the top 10, Midwest, South or Westcoast Rappers. Why? cause again it's the birthplace. I got love for all regions and I'm an Eastcoast fan born and raised. To me, music is music and if it's a hot album, no matter what region it's from, I will bump it. But don't be upset cause NY is going to have high standards when it comes to Hip Hop cause they birthed it.

high standards is one thing...but I'm old enough to remember hip-hop in the 90's and there is and has always been some NY rap fans that are reluctant to give anything outside of NY rap a chance or any real credit...like now it's pretty much agreed that Outkasts first album is great...but in 1994 they were seen as just 2 southern niggas...same with alot of West Coast hip-hop in their early days...it was alot of "Them niggas over there talking about killing over colors...it can't be that bad out in LA it's Hollywood" and now NY is going through the same gang shit LA's had since the 70's and been talking about the same street shit they been talking about from the West Coast from jump...yes NY has produced more great rappers than any other place and it's the birthplace but to some NY heads being the birthplace has them thinking they are the final say on anything in hip-hop and that's not true...

Closet fans or not... This is the Thing i like Roscoe Dash i like his voice but if a nigga be like "He's wack" i be like "Ya damn right" Wont hurt me none i wont break down how he had a hit or 2 this year... Because i know he's not a great rapper... Whats so hard about that? If i called Gucci Mane trash right now then u would have a hissy fit and go on and on about "Aint nobody forcing u to listen to it" and "Well other ppl like it" and "Just because u say he's wack that dont mean he's wack" when u just cant admit he sucks as a rapper even tho he makes music u like.....

If you look at Jay Z & Gucci Manes content for the most part both heavily Rap about hustling drugs Jay Z is a better Rapper then Gucci technically and so far has made better Albums like Reasonable Doubt but when you go back to the content it is very similar if you read the Lyrics of a Gucci Song & a Jay Z Song it's really similar as far as what they Rap about

They both use a similar formula to they collab with a lotta Singers who will feature on their tracks to do the Hook it could be Mariah Carey for example again Jay Z will have the better Verses as far as putting words together but the content he Rap's about will be identical to Gucci Manes Verses

Gucci will take more risks as an Artist though you will see Gucci Mane do his own Hook's way more then Jay Z mostly you see Jay Z get a feature for his Hook's or Jay Z will use a tried and trusted super Producer the Neptunes, Timbalands, Dr Dre's etc of the world Gucci will experiment with in house Producers who aren't known

Jay Z has done that too before Eminem started Producing for other Artists he was mainly Producing his own Albums or Albums for his Artists like D12 on his label Jay Z reached out and got Eminem to Produce Renegade for him & the track ended up legendary to this very day but that is the only time i remember Jay Z stepping out the box with a Producer

But alot do and its reasonable why because they feel that they are protecting their region that has been talked about so harsh. And i admit there's dumb ppl who assume if ur from the soouth ur trash because all we get is the Mainstream Artist thanks to Hot 97..... But at the end of the day if we dont call it out it will only get worst... If everybody just let anybody make music it will only get worst because the Labels aint say whats talent they just want that money... So the fans and i mean FANS not bandwagon jumpers and casual listeners gotta basically be that Yup or Nope type thing and weed through all the wack shit....

"worse"

Don't take offense. Seeing that shit irks me.

Uh No.... This thread is full of it... And dont front how many times have u heard the excuse "He's getting Money" Thats the tag line for somebody who is wack but "Made" it. And who's mad? I was taught when i was younger if u have an opinion speak on it if somebody dont like it oh well.... A closed mouth dont get fed.... simple as that...

I co-sign this...I hate when niggas use that "he's getting money" phrase to excuse a wack rapper. Whether he's from East Coast, West Coast, Down South, or Midwest if they're wack I'ma call it out.

Their money status shouldn't be an excuse for putting out crappy product no matter where they're from.

Ok lets sum this shit up... A Large Portion of NY/leastcoasts HipHop Scene is haters Not all but a large portion, A portion of the southern HipHop scene makes and supports trash not all but a considerable portion. The west coast has almost completely fell off Not completely but almost so. Side point the west coast has always showed love and accepted people from every region Look at Pac Xzibit Bone Kurupt Master P all blew up on the west coast but came from elsewhere. Ice Cube had a large portion of his production on his 1st 2 albums done in NY we on the west showed how successfull the indie game could be and the majority of our scene embraced all who showed us Love same as the south and the Midwest but not the East only a handfull out there show love to everyone else. The reason and this thread prve these points and show how that resentment and mistreatment by the east is having a backlash to where katsare starting to do unto others as they are having done unto them in regards to the NY/leastcosast HipHop scene with the rest of the National scene...
