Why are hiphop fans so fickle?(scared of growth as an artist?)

Two things

1. Most niggas are limited in their experiences culturally (not hiphop, but different shit such as other music, traveling,etc).
2. Most rap fans look at music with nostalgia (the music they grew up on). Music ties into their childhood memories, hence the reason why they want rappers to keep creating the music from their childhood.

With that said, some of the shit is poorly executed and some of this shit is not hiphop. 808 ain't hiphop and neither is bullshit that Drake is putting out, BP3 had some terrible songs on it too. I'm all for experimenting, but it has to be executed right.

most of the fickleness comes from folkz who are ; online , back packers,"crackaz who love ol skool", and purist...

majority of hiphop fans just be chillin, i've neva seen such hate 4 an artist(s) until i joined the reason.

Blueprint 3 wasn't progressive, it was wack

I found that i liked a lot of the songs, the album just wasn't cohesive or balanced well

Im a fan of growth if it actually occurs, not wackness masqueraded as growth

I dont mind growth by an artist. Just don't make shitty music and claim you're showing "growth"

I pretty much stand by this.

It's one thing to do something "different" and claiming it's so-called growth, but when it's trashy I'm not standing by it one bit.

@ usmarin3: I traveled to Japan, Brazil, Italy and France and their respect is very solid for "nostalgia Hip Hop" i.e. Hip Hop the way it's supposed to be made without adding any borderline gay bull shit calling it growth. But you're right..it must be executed right.

Lol @ citing BP3 as growth. We've known Jay has the ability to make catchy (but wack) singles that turn in to anthems. He didn't need to make an album full of them.

MBDTF= Growth

BP3= Regression

I think the music business and hiphop has to experience shitty periods, so you can get to golden periods. It's all cyclical and all growth and evolution isn't gonna lead to something great throughout the process.

Just think if South Park had some growth & changed and made a less comical product under the same name it would be bs because its not what you were expecting.
