Kanye West clearly changed the state of hip hop where he bridge the ideas of TCQ with the masculinity of ROC. He found a medium that alot of people ( young or old) felt with his music. His word progressed a movement within hip hop that it is alright to not be a hardcore thug; to be a college drop out; and still be successful due to him staying true to his dream and working hard to become successful; which is the essence of the american dream.

Arrogance or not. Kanye west is important figure in hiphop.

I think at one point Kanye was the bridge between the mainstream and the underground, but now he's on some other shit.

He was the bridge between both mediums but he decided that he wanted to become POP. He wanted to be the BEST. He wanted to conqure everyone and everything. He became selfish.

I agree and its a shame though because that 2004/2005 era Kanye was dope.

I dont even want to talk about that era anymore. It's like he doesnt want to go back and be that person anymore. I know as people we progress but if its not broke; dont fix it. God. The best songs that he ever made to me was Spaceships, Roses, Black music, Sierra Leone,3 words and jesus walk.

I guess he got "bored" with hip hop and wanted to make pop music. I heard that his next album will be mostly rapping again.

Jamaica how come you dislike Eminem so much? i used to think Balla Like Oj Simpson was an Em hater but he actually does like Em and buy's his records too even Queens Get The Money gives prop's when due

Everyone else that dislikes Eminem on here the main reason is based on jealousy of success really but what is your reason?

I dont hate Em I actually like him, but I feel that his music has been lacking for the longest while, he hasn't progressed or grown as an artist and he seems to be content with making the same type of songs. I thought after being away for 5 years that he would return and would have a lil more substance in his music, but instead we get the same thing, disguised as a "concept" album.

As a rapper he is extremely dope, but his songs are wack to me.

Eminem as far as the Album's he's dropped, his sales, the quality of records like Lose Yourself which is one of the greatest Song's ever

He has won way more Grammy's and awards then Jay Z also won an Oscar

Had Album's voted as some of the greatest ever made in Rolling Stone magazine

Has had way more Hit's then Jay Z on the Chart's including 2 number one's with Lose Yourself & Crack A Bottle and pretty much ever other Single peaking in the top 10 in the Chart at the very least

Hold's the record for selling the highest in the opening week with 1.7 Million in 2000 and repeated selling a MIllion in the first week again in 2002

LMAO. This gotta be Dretox.

From that statement i would question if you listened to his Music i mean Relapse was a concept Album but just look at a record like Beautiful that was genius and that's pretty deep content as far as substance as well as Deja Vu

Majority of his Song's are very personal and based on real life experiences that people can relate to he covers so many topics from poverty to relationship's to parenting to politics to fame to drug addiction and put's emotion in these records but also always is Lyrical but balances out having a message with Lyricism

Wether you think so or not The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show are all critically acclaimed classic Album's that have gone down in history wether it is judged by critics in the industry or general consensus by listeners they are 3 Album's that are rated that highly

Then you also gotta understand Song's like Lose Yourself & Stan are considered among the greatest ever

You say Nas is your fave or you think he the best but Eminem is just as Lyrical as Nas and arguably a batter all round Song Writer but Eminem as far as content goes covers more personal topics then Nas like i mentioned

Sure he makes some records like his lead Singles which are comedy and for entertainment purposes to be catchy and sell more Album's but those kinda Song's are the minority his Album's always have the deep personal records where he put's his soul into the Music and even then he still releases some deep personal Singles

See i've listed Song's before proving my case about Eminem's Song's majority wise being deep with a message oppossed to his entertaining Song's that are pretty much just the lead Singles and a few others but majority wise his Song's from his Album's have deep content with amazing Lyricism and story telling i can list the Song's again

I'm Goin with Hovey Baby...If Not Hov then Ye' ... But It's cleary Hov handz down... the reason why Em album sales are so high and have all those accolades is because he's white point blank... the guy is talented as fuck but song wise he's average and he would be lackluster without Dre on the boards... Em from 1999-2004 was dope but afta that he fell off, relapse was trash.... No one this decade is fucking with Hov's catalouge this decade hate him or love him his music is amazing...

If I listen to Slim Shady LP and then Relapse I wouldn't hear much of a difference, his subject matter is repetitive and sure he has made some dope songs, Lose Yourself is my favorite Em song, but I dont know who actually finds him rapping about getting raped by his step father good content, but whatever, Bizzy Bone touched on that very same subject and pulled it off way better. He has regressed lyrically over time he is not as witty with the rhymes anymore. Eminem makes songs thats based on personal life experiences, but how many times do we have to hear about his hatred for his mom and Kim and how much he loves Hailey. We get it already, how many times must he rap about taking drugs and all that other weird stuff like necrophilia and shit, where is the growth, we all know Em is not in the same position he was back in 99, but the music hasn't reflected that at all. At least all of Nas albums sound different and reflects a level of growth and real creativity.

eminem is too much of a recluse. he could be the best ever, but he's too sparse over the decade as an artist.
