yea probably Jay just due to the 4yr hiatus of Em

However, i'd put Brother Ali over both of them in regards to skill and quality of albums dropped

Eminem as far as the Album's he's dropped, his sales, the quality of records like Lose Yourself which is one of the greatest Song's ever

He has won way more Grammy's and awards then Jay Z also won an Oscar

Had Album's voted as some of the greatest ever made in Rolling Stone magazine

Has had way more Hit's then Jay Z on the Chart's including 2 number one's with Lose Yourself & Crack A Bottle and pretty much ever other Single peaking in the top 10 in the Chart at the very least

Hold's the record for selling the highest in the opening week with 1.7 Million in 2000 and repeated selling a MIllion in the first week again in 2002

very valid points but i think dropping out of the scene for half of the decade negates it.

Think thread starter should clarify... Is this by sales/awards etc? Or who just put out hte best quality of work..

B/c best quality of work again, i got to put Brother Ali out there

Shadows on the Sun

Undisputed Truth

The Truth is Here EP

Us

all extremely good bodies of work

I think if you talking about a predominantly underground MC as far as quality of work and talent go being the best of the decade i would go with Z-RO

But i think if you talking about mainstream known Artists yes quality of work is essential like i stated myself Eminem's Album's and his records like Lose Yourself being a major reason but i think for the mainstream Artists we do have to look at things like Awards and sales as well

It's like if Micheal Jordan won NBA player of the year in 1995 or whatever we would have to take that Award seriously, if Micheal Jordan was the reason arenas were packed out in the 90's we gotta take that seriously too

Yes sales are apart of it and quality of the Music is more important but if over 10 million people bought THe Marshall Mathers LP in 2000 and for that reason it got a Diamond plaque we must take that seriously it's not the fact he just sold at that level but the general universal consensus is that the Album is also a universal classic and one of the best Album's made the Album also won a lotta Grammy's so we gotta bear things like that in mind

Eminem has achieved way more

Saleswise yeah maybe, but Jay probably has more money than him, but I am not the one to talk about sales. anyway imo Eminem peaked in 2002 and fell off afterwards, with back to back weak albums.

Just sales?

What about Eminem winning countless Grammy's an Oscar, having 3 Album's voted amongst the best ever on Rolling Stone, having way more Hit Singles, having a record reach number one on the Chart and it staying number one for the longest and that's before we talk about his sell out Tour's around the world

None of those albums he won an award for are classics and to be honest his music has no replay value to me. Those awards are nice and all, but those things are sometimes subjective.
